SHERLOCK HOLMES AND WATSON ARE CHARACTERS OF DOYLE. C. KENT AND SUPES ARE CHARACTERS OF JOE/JERRY AND D.C.

I am recording the following events with full understanding that there will be little who believe it and many who will think me insane yet I am compelled to write this down in honor of my late friend and an unknown hero who deserved much and recieved nothing.

It was during a time of extreme frustration for my friend. Frustration that he, to my great dislike, let out on Ms. Hudson and myself. He spent most of his time pacing around the room, staring at the stars, practicing his marksmanship indoors and snapping at me when he wan not indulging in the needle. I was quite used to these moods of his for they came and went here and again but after several weeks of this behavior I began to worry. He spept less and less each day and ate little if anything to the point of becoming a serious detriment to his health. It was concerning this subject that I approached my friend.

He looked up at me from his seat on the sofa with irritated blood-shot eyes. "You could not possibly understand, Watson. That creature will surely drive me to insanity."

"I quite agree, though I have not an inkling of what you are talking about." I answered, curtly. My friend just stared at me with an unreadable expression on his haggard face."Holmes," I said, beseechingly, "I know you find it difficult to tell anyone your troubles, but for God's sake, let me help you with what ever it is your dealing with."

He smiled slightly and I felt myself relax. "I will tell you," he said, standing up and walking to his desk, "for tonight it shall all be over." He picked up his telescope and a star chart and walked to the open window. He handed me the star chart and pointed the telescope into the diamond sprinkled sky. "You have probably noticed that crime has taken a tremenous drop in the past few weeks."

I nodded, "Yes, I thought that was the cause of your anguish but you have never let this sort of thing affect you to this extent. Crime, I suppose, has it's up and down seasons like everything else and you will have plenty of challenges very soon I am sure."

Holmes shook his head sadly, "I wish it were only that, Watson, but it is not. Something is bringing the crime-rate down and it will go much much lower befor it starts to go back up. Look at this star chart. Here- over here- is a star named Janvis that scientists estimate to be approximately thirty light-years away." I whistled and Holmes shot me an annoyed look and continued, "Several weeks ago this star vanished. This is not uncommon for stars do age and die as I am sure our sun will some day. But that is off the point. The point is that this star in reality died thiry years ago and only now is it's light terminated. There is another very interesting factor."

Holmes threw his telescope into the nearest chair and ran back to his desk where he began throwing papers over his shoulders in search of something. I admit, I had no idea where he was going with all this and was about to suggest he take a holiday when he suddenly appeared by my shoulder holding an old yellowed document.

"Read it, Watson!" he shoved it into my hands and pointed to the third to the last paragraph. It stated that a shooting star had entered earth's atomsphere without disintergrating and scientists were searching for the object without success. "This happened thirty years ago." Holmes said, shaking with excitement. "Do you not understand?"

I stared at him blankly, "Holmes, wha-"

"Ahh, I see you do not. But never fear, Watson, for you shall understand everything tonight. Get your hat and coat! The game is afoot!"
