Hey there everyone ; 10-minutes-worth-of-writing one shot here. I've got
this craving for shojou-style romance, and all I can find is yaoi. So I'm
just gonna do something quick for Joey and Mai, since I haven't written
them yet.
Please note- this has NO plot, NO planning, and NO real reason for anything. So if it sucks, it sucks.

Pretty in Pink
She walked down the street slowly, her head bowed and her face flushed. It's not like she didn't LIKE to dance, especially the ballroom- style dancing the party would have, it was that she hadn't done that since she'd taken classes in high school. Granted, she was only 20, it wasn't like it had been years since then.
Holding the single pink rose tightly in her gloved hand, she stopped in front of the building and hesitated for a moment. Who on earth did she know who could dance? More importantly, who would offer to dance with her? Who would send her an invitation to a party at a place she didn't know?
"Well, there's only one way to find out..." she walked up the stairs and into the building.
He had been waiting for almost an hour, by then. The pink rose in his breast pocket was already beginning to wilt.
"Maybe she's not coming..." he said to himself. He sighed. Of course, that was it. Why would she, anyway? It had been a stupid idea. He'd thought it dashing and romantic- like a movie. He'd send an anonymous invitation, and confess to her when she arrived. But why would she come? He turned around and began to walk out the back.
"Oh my gosh, she's so pretty!" he heard someone shout. He turned around, chocolate-brown eyes scanning the room, heart thumping, not daring to believe it could be her...
And there she was.
She really had gone all out for this- her hair was up in an elegant bun and long white gloves on her graceful arms. But the real touch was her dress. He'd seen her in skirts, of course, but this was floor-length and frilled- as pink as the rose in her hand. There were puffed sleeves set at an angle to leave her collar bare, showing off a long diamond necklace. Large, lilac bows were set at the edges of the sleeves, and along the bottom of the skirt.
He took in the beauty of her dress, but he didn't forget what was truly beautiful to him. He looked into her eyes from across the room- bright violet pools. His own eyes drank in the smoothness of her skin, the delicate flush that crept across her cheeks. She was radiant. Taking the rose out of his pocket, he walked over to her.
She gasped when she saw him, rose in hand. "Joey?"
He stumbled a little and held the rose out to her. "H-hey Mai.....you....you look really nice...."
"Thank you..." why was she being so shy? She wasn't like this...
"Look, um...Mai...." He looked up at her- he had had his head bowed. "I'm the one who invited you here...because....I mean...."
Mai smiled and laughed a little, feeling more like her old self having gotten over the shock. "I know, Joey. Me too." Reaching down, she put her arms around his neck. He stood up, wiping a stray strand of hair away from her face. He put a hand around her waist, moving closer to her, and closer...
She tightened her grip around him and touched her lips gently to his. Joey followed suit, enveloping her in a tight embrace.
"I love you, Mai."
"And I love you, Joey."
He broke away and playfully offered her his arm. "Shall we dance?"
Laughing again, Mai took it, and arm in arm, they walked together to the floor.
