This story is a HP story I'm not sure who the main focus will be on yet (Minerva Mcgonagall, Hermione Granger or Harry Potter) maybe all of them! Takes place after the fifth book PS/SS/POA/GOF/OOTP spoilers

AN authors note (the author being me) and POV point of view (don't know if ill use this I might change throughout the story)

Harry sat on his bed, trying to think of some happy memories before he went to sleep. Sirius' death was still fresh in his mind and it was giving him nightmares, every night he watched Sirius fall beyond the veil as Lupin tried to hold Harry. Harry thought about that first time he met Ron and Hermione on the Hogwarts Express. Ron stuffing his face with chocolate frogs and Hermione fixing his glasses while looking for a toad. The first time he saw Hermione he realised how caring she must be, to go around looking for a toad that wasn't even hers. He thought about how he had first found out about moving pictures in the wizarding world when he opened his chocolate frog and found Dumbledore. Dumbledore. Harry was still mad at the present headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. He had to admit that a lot of his anger for the headmaster had evaporated when Dumbledore had voiced how much he cared for Harry. Harry had always wanted someone who cared about him as much as a parent and he was sure Dumbledore did. This brought new tears to Harry's eyes, of course someone had cared about him that much. Sirius had. Harry sat there telling himself that boys don't cry! He could handle this. The person who had been like the parents he never really got to know was now gone! Another of Harry's friends gone! What was going to happen? Were his friends going to keep dying until there was no one left? Harry couldn't take it anymore he had to get his mind off this topic. Harry looked at the clock, it was only 9pm but harry had been so drained he needed the extra sleep. Quickly getting up off the bed harry found a scrap piece of parchment and started to write to the one person who understood him and his feelings, Ron of course was one of his best friends but didn't have the same emotional understanding that Hermione had. Harry still felt bad about the terrible ordeal he had put her through, but knowing that friendship also meant a lot to her and he knew she would forgive him, it was Hermione after all. Hermione. Harry's thoughts had drifted to her a lot since the summer, Hermione was always the one that harry could depend on, always there to comfort him, always there to support him even when Ron didn't. he quickly began scribbling on the parchment.

Dear Hermione

Hi how have you been feeling? I'm still really sorry, I should have listened to you. I can't help but hope that you and Ron will forgive me. Are you doing anything over the summer? I'm too scared to ask Dumbledore if I can leave yet. I really shouldn't have yelled at him. You don't know if everyone is at Grimmauld place do you? I really don't want to leave the Dursley's if I have to go there, I don't want to go there ever again. Hermione I need you to understand that no matter what happens I will always protect you. I cant bear to lose another friend and that's why I think that it is important that even if you and Ron do forgive me, I should keep you safe by staying away from you two. Hermione I only want to keep you safe and I understand if your parents do not want you to see me again. I know what I put you through was terrible and I can't ever forgive myself for letting you experience that.

Love Harry

Harry looked at the letter he had written to the girl he had thought of for the last few years. Even Sirius had liked her…. Sirius had liked her and that gave Harry the thumbs up.

"boy get down here now"

"Coming Uncle Vernon" harry summoned Hedwig and sent her off with the letter. Making his way slowly downstairs harry thought about how this was the first time the Dursleys had actually talked to him. Harry reached the bottom stair when he recognized some voices. Looking into the lounge he saw the Dursleys all standing against the wall while Tonks, Lupin, Mr. Weasly, Bill, Charlie and professor Dumbledore. Harry stared, looking at all of them in turn each smiling at him warmly Harry couldn't help but notice that Dumbledore's spark had gone.

It was Lupin who spoke first he looked worse than Harry had ever seen him in his shabby robes "hello Harry, how have you been"

"I'm not going to lie to you professor, it's been horrible and I'm ready to go away, anywhere, anywhere but Grimmauld place."

"Well harry" it was Dumbledore who spoke this time "it is not Grimmauld place that we are taking you to, you will be going to stay with Professor Mcgonagall." Harry stared at him in disbelief, Prof. McGonagall's house, all sorts of questions started running through Harry's already clouded brain, where was her house, was he safe there, was Mcgonagall safe with him there, had Dumbledore forgiven him?

"Professor Dumbledore sir, I have something to say to" but harry was cut off by Dumbledore

"harry we can talk later right now we need to get you to Minerva's house that has been protected by all sorts of spells. Now you will need to remember 87 Skinner Rd"

"yes professor. How will we be getting there sir?"

"Portkey" replied Tonks.

"Alright well if we are ready we should really get going" said Lupin

"yes" replied Dumbledore "Harry hold onto this" Dumbledore gave Harry Thursday's newspaper and told him to get ready as he and Lupin also grabbed hold.

"Goodbye Aunt Petunia, Uncle Vernon, Dudley" he said slowly, "thank-you for everything" he added coldly and slightly sarcastically as he realised it could be one of the last times he saw them.

"Goodbye Harry, by the way you have your mother's eyes" said Aunt Petunia as Harry felt the pull somewhere around his navel.

Landing with a thud Harry fell to the ground. His ankle had been a little weak since the 3rd task of the Triwizard tournament. A hand grabbed him behind his shoulders and helped him to his feet. He looked up into the face of what looked to be a troubled, aged man whose twinkle looked a little bit brighter since Harry had first seen him about an hour ago. Harry realised he was outside and quickly looked around when he spotted what he had been looking for. A two-story house stood before him, this house had a lot of windows and looked very impressive, yet welcoming in the same way.

Lupin who had been watching Harry's smile grow leaned in and quietly and said "it's hard to imagine that professor Mcgonagall owns a place like this isn't it."

Harry laughed for the first time in months, "it sure is". But his laughter didn't last long.

"HARRY JAMES POTTER" WHAT ON EARTH DO YOU THINK YOU ARE DOING???" harry turned to see a very angry professor McGonagall marching towards him.
