On with the story!!!!
Harry and Hermione entered the Great Hall the next morning and made their way to the staff table. Harry led Hermione to a seat beside McGonagall where she sat awkwardly.
"Good morning you two, did you sleep well?"
"Yes thank-you professor" Harry answered politely.
"That's good to hear" Minerva noticed her daughters quietness and figured that she still hadn't forgiven her. Hermione looked like she wanted to say something but couldn't make up her mind whether to say it or not. In the end she did.
"Mum?" Hermione said quietly. Those around who heard what Hermione had called Minerva looked at her sideways, they had only heard her call her Minerva.
"Yes"
"I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said what I said about you not trusting me and implying that I thought you didn't love me, I know you do."
Minerva didn't want her daughter to think she can get away with yelling at her like that but wanted to remain on her good side. "I'm am also sorry. Let's just try and forget it"
"Okay"
The rest of the breakfast passed without any trouble until Harry reached past Hermione and Minerva for a piece of toast.
"Harry?"
"Yes Professor?"
"What's that on your hand?"
It took harry a moment to figure out what she was talking about. The words 'I must not tell lies' were still etched into his hand. "Oh it's nothing." Harry said.
"Let me have a look" the other professors at the table started listening to Minerva and looked their way. Harry slowly held his hand out for McGonagall to view, she stood up and walked around so she was beside Harry. "Albus I think you need to have a look at this. Who did this!" she said angrily as Dumbledore made his way down the table.
"Umbridge"
"How?"
"Using a quill thing. When I wrote it etched into my hand and used my blood."
"SHE USED WHAT! HOW DARE SHE!"
"Harry" it was Dumbledore this time he also looked angry that someone was abusing his students "how many times did this happen?"
"Well I did about 3 weeks worth of detention maybe a few more"
"How long did you have to use the quill for?"
"Well I was in the room from about 5pm till midnight some nights."
"What was the detention for"
"Well I kept telling her that Voldemort was back and he murdered Cedric Diggory and stuff like that. And she said I was telling lies and that's how I got this message"
"Must have been painful Potter" Snape said in his silky drawl.
"A little but I didn't show her that."
"I made you go to those detentions. Why didn't you tell me?"
"Because if I had told you, you would have gone mad and yelled at her and she would have passed a decree which would have let her fire you."
"I can look after myself Potter. Students are far more important than my job."
"Sorry professor"
"As much as I am flattered by the fact that you like me enough to stop me from getting fired, I would like it if you told me you are being abused next time Harry."
"Sure thing professor"
"Now that that is sorted I believe Fawkes can get rid of that horrid message with his tears"
" I would like to take a photo first if you don't mind Minerva. It could help be vital evidence in her case with the ministry." Minerva nodded. Dumbledore conjured a camera and took a photo of it.
"How many others had this quill used on them?"
"Well Lee Jordan had it used on him and I'm not sure who else."
"Thank-you. I have some business to attend to, I would like to see you at 3 o'clock Harry in my office." Harry nodded, showing his understanding. Dumbledore walked out of the hall and disappeared.
"The O.W.L results should arrive today" Harry heard Minerva saying to Hermione.
"Do you know when?" Hermione asked excitedly.
"No I do not know when but I do know that there were some O.W.L and even some N.E.W.Ts records broken. Especially in DADA." Minerva looked at Harry.
"Wow Harry! I bet that was all the extra training you gave them!"
"I wouldn't have given anyone any extra training if you hadn't suggested it 'Mione." Hermione blushed as some members of the staff stared at her after Harry had used her little 'nickname'. A few of the staff had seen what happened when Krum used a nickname for the girl, he certainly learnt his lesson. Hermione had yelled in front of everyone standing near that her name was 'Hermione' not 'herminny' or 'herm' or 'hermy'!
Lunchtime
Minerva was extremely pleased when the O.W.L results arrived, not because her daughter was worrying herself horse, but because she was tired of Hermione asking her every 5 minutes if they had arrived! Finally she could give her what was almost certain to be good news.
Minerva walked into the great hall to see Hermione and Harry already sitting at the table. Hermione looked up at her mother when she entered and Minerva held up the hogwarts letters and O.W.L results which she had just finished writing. Hermione got up from the table and ran the length of the great hall to her mother.
"Hermione these are yours" she said smiling. She had looked at all of the other students' results apart from Hermione and Harry's. As Harry reached Minerva she held out his results "and these Harry, are yours."
Hermione was ripping open her results to see what she got

We are pleased to inform you that you received 28 O.W.L.'s
Hermione jumped in the air as she passed her results to her mother. Who for some reason looked absolutely shocked.

Hermione looked at her mother and saw the shocked look on her face.
"What?" Hermione asked her mother when she realised the look on her mother's face.
"You…you bet my transfiguration score! That was the only record I still held and it was extremely high where is your results paper with the marks" Minerva said excitedly.
"Here"
"You got 450 my record was only 400. Well done I'm so proud! 28 O.W.L.s that's amazing definitely the highest amount Hogwarts had seen in many years." Hermione was glowing after her mother's compliment but turned her attention to Harry.
"How did you go Harry?"
"Uh surprisingly well" Harry said smiling, he passed his results sheet to Hermione so she could see as Minerva read over her shoulder.

"Harry that's awesome I'm so proud of you!" Hermione said jumping into Harry's arms to wrap him in a hug.
"Not as much as I am of you! 28 is fantastic Hermione!"
"I am extremely proud of both of you! You both did fantastic. I have to ask what happened in Astronomy though?"
"That was the night that Umbridge attacked you professor"
"Oh right that would explain the poor results of the Gryffindors for astronomy I suppose. Oh and before I forget, Harry I am pleased to inform you that all members of 'Dumbledore's Army'" she said with a smile "received Outstanding in their O.W.L.s for DADA including a new N.E.W.T record by Alicia Spinnet."
Harry and Hermione smiled at each other then Hermione hugged her mother tightly. "I love you mum"
"I love you to Hermione. I have never been more proud of you than I am now."
"Thanks mum. And I'm sorry for beating your record" she added with a smile.
"Well I'm glad it still remains within the family. It was better you than someone else." Minerva pulled her daughter away just enough and smiled at her daughter before pulling her back in and kissing her head gently.
The hogwarts faculty looked on and was surprised to see how much attention and love Minerva showed her daughter. They were used to seeing the stern, proper professor McGonagall who showed little or no emotion, not the loving, caring professor McGonagall. After a few moments she broke the hug a said quietly "we should have some lunch before that boyfriend of yours eats it all" there was amusement present in the older woman's voice. Hermione looked over at the table to see Harry gulping down dome pumpkin juice before shoveling more food into his mouth. Laughing out loud Hermione made her way back towards the table.
"Harry?" said Hermione approaching the table. "I think you've been hanging around Ron too long!"
Harry just stared at her as she sat next to him then replied with "maybe, but I'm sure you'll love me anyway." And turned his attention back to his plate as Hermione giggled and said
"You're right, as long as you take on his insensitive nature as well!"
" I promise I won't take on Ron's insensitive nature as well as his eating habits." Harry said laughing.
"Oh my God!" Hermione said panicking slightly.
"What? What's wrong?" Harry and Minerva said at the same time.
"Harry we haven't told Ron yet!"
"Haven't told Ron what?"
"About US! We haven't told Ron about US!"
