Aftermath; A new age of Vash The Stampede
Disclaimer: The characters portrayed are not my own, but those of the show
Trigun.
Years have passed since the epic duel with knives, and the death of the honorable Nicholas Wolfwood. Peace has been since restored for a short time to the land of the humanoid typhoon, and Vash could finally begin to resolve the issues of his past, but as the story of a warring peace goes, all things must end, and at times they will end in the worst of ways.
Vash: I know there counting on me, thinking I can stay, but the world is so fast, and the answers to things I seek are still out there, I cant stay here, because even though knives is caught and the world is free of his torment, I cant subject the ones I love to what will come, I cant do it, they don't need to be plagued by what will happen.
Vash got out of the bed entangled in white sheets, he took them and push them aside covering Meryl in there soft cotton fibers, he made sure not to wake her, for he would not want her to know where he would go. Vash then arose walked slowly to the closet, opened the large wooden doors and looked deeply inwards, the contents were of his new life and his old, he knew now looking at his simple and plain clothing that he could never be one to like the life he had, so with a forceful hand he withdrew his red over coat carefully taking it from its hanger, and then slowly putting it on.
Vash: I remember you so well, everything I've done, the evil I caused, the pain I spread, I cant, but no... The only choice I have and its impossible, I don't want to cause more pain, everyone has been hurt enough, I don't want it anymore, but I cant keep waiting for things I don't want to happen to appear. I can't live this lie anymore, it will only bring suffering.
Vash put on the weathered red coat, holstered his gun, and walked slowly to the door, he took hold the handle and began to remember the events of the past year, the pain they had caused and the knowledge which he took from them, yet he took forth the handle, and as he did a flash of light streamed down from the opening in the curtains.
Nicholas: You know you cant do anything, why leave now? Vash: I have to, I, I, cant live a life I don't deserve nor, do I want to cause more pain. Nicholas: You think they wont be in pain when you leave, think of all the times before, they were there, they did not give up on you. Vash: You don't understand, how could you, you cant, I don't want them to feel what I do, even though the days have passed since the battles I fought, I will never forget them, the memories are burned into my eyes. Nicholas: Don't... Vash:Don't, remember, how could I not, an entire town, was, was gone and I was the cause of it , how can I not forget such suffering so much death. Nicholas: It wasn't your fault. Vash: It was, all of it, if, if, I just wasn't here none of this would ever have happened, its as if the world was better without my presence, for then I would not be the plague of this world. Nicholas: You cant judge the world, the world isn't your responsibility, yet you can change what happens, but can you make the right decision.
The light faded in an instant, leaving Vash in a moment of recollection staring vaguely at Meryl still sleeping, still beautiful, his eyes became reddened, and his hands began to shake, a tear fell to the ground, one of sadness of longing and hope, he pushed aside it in anger. He then turned back to the door and opened it.
Vash: Ill be back, I promise you, there will be no pain, in this world when I return...
