Meant to Live, Ch. 1: Living with Our Eyes Half Open

A/N: Since it's all AU, the RFR crew knows Buffy is a show(they mentioned it in the very first ep. aired) and they watch it. The opening sequence is from "Chosen", the series finale of BtVS. Enjoy! Angel: the series will also be mentioned and Spike is in it! YAY!

Turok-Hans, thousands of them. Buffy had expect this, but the reality of it didn't reach her completely until she stood at that ledge and every single one of them turned and stared up. Now, they were running towards them and the spell obviously wasn't working yet, by the looks of the girls' terrified faces. The Slayer glanced down and the uber-vamps. "Willow..."

Meanwhile, right above them, Willow was casting said spell, murmuring some Latin words. Her eyes shot open when she felt the impact of the magicks. Her breathing grew heavier as the power of the scythe flowed through her fingertips. "Oh....my.....Goddess."

White light erupted from the weapon. Below, the girls felt a powerful force rip through them. They understood what needed to be done and that it could be done...whether or not they lived to see another minute. They all stared defiantly to the vampires. Vi smiled and whispered, "These guys are dust."

Robbie, Ray, and Lily walked out of their last class, talking and laughing. It was the last day of school, and, for that matter, the last day of Middle School. They walked down the hall, to their lockers. Ray let out a content sigh. "Finally! I never have to think about middle school again!"

"Don't you think you should say that after we leave the building?" Robbie asked, turning to Ray.

"Plus, you never thought about Middle School before," Lily quipped. "What's the di-" She stopped in her place, eyes wide, an odd expression crossed her face. Flashes swept through her mind. Are you ready to be strong?

Ray and Robbie, a few steps ahead, stopped and turned back to her. Concerned, Ray asked, "Lil, what's wrong?"

A moment of silence passed, and she blinked, smiling at her friends. "Oh, um...it's nothing. Uh, hey! You guys gonna watch the last episode of Buffy tonight?"

They nodded and the three moved on.

Lily hadn't been the same since. Not in a bad way though. After the moment, she would confront every situation and be more proactive, instead of sitting on the side lines. But also not in a good way. She had been having nightmares of horrifying deaths. Girls being slashed till all that was left were blood and bones smashed together. They got worse as the summer progressed. But summer came and, just as quickly, left. By that time, they had gained another friend, Travis Strong, and Radio Free Roscoe had long passed 'begun'. Back in the present, another song ended and the four DJs began to speak once again.

Question Mark: Welcome back. This is another round of 'What if?'. If you're just tuning in, this is a game where not only us, but you listeners can express what you would be doing if you weren't where you are right now.

Pronto: Let's see...I got the perfect place! Hollywood, California. Me?: A Bodyguard for Angelina Jolie.

Shady Lane::scoffs:: Pronto, what planet do you live on and when's the quickest ride off it?

Pronto: It's not THAT impossible. I can just guess where Smog would be. ::bad imitation of Travis:: In the Alps meditating or practicing his Zen powers...

Smog: The Alps...? Besides, I think I'd be in London. Not exactly sure why at the moment.

Question Mark: I'd have to be...anywhere far away from here. What about you, Shady?

Shady Lane: I'm thinking a different universe. Somewhere I can be heard.

Question Mark: That's probably more likely to happen than Pronto's bodyguard daydream.

Pronto: Hey!

Question Mark: What about you listeners? What would you be doing right now as to what going on now?

Travis held up the small chalkboard that read, 'Ed&Ted'.

QM: Ed & Ted, your on the air. What would you be doing?

Ed: We would be doing the exact same thing we are now.

Ted: Yes, we are perfectly happy.

SL: I'm glad someone is.

After more calls and some outrageous ideas (among others, riding the Loch Ness monster into the Bermuda Triangle), the four called it a day. Lily let her mind wander, as she had been doing for several months, only to take her back to the dreams and when it all started. A tap on the shoulder snapped her out of it. "Lily?"

She shook her head and looked up from her chair. Robbie was standing there obviously worried. Ray and Travis had left a while ago( which is weird for Travis, since he practically lives there!)."Oh! Sorry about that. Was I out of it again?"

"Only a lot." He retorted. He sat down in one of the chairs across from her. "What's up?"

She sighed and looked again to her friend. "I don't know...I mean, I've been thinking a lot about where I belong. Ever felt like you don't belong where you are? And there's somewhere really important you should be, but you don't know where?" She asked him, hoping he won't tell her she's crazy or something.

His brow furrowed. "Why do you ask?"

"I'm not even sure. It's like..." She took a deep breath. "I feel more detached from everything here and I need to find out where I'm meant to be."

"Odds are you might find where." He tried, sympathetically. "If something wants you wherever that place is, they'll find you."

She though for second before responding. "I not sure if that's good or not."

"No longer in hiding

Leaders now rise

Find the one meant for this life

Hear their silent cries

So mote it be"

Willow Rosenberg repeated this over and over until the large portal opened disappeared into itself leaving behind but one name circled on it.

Lillian 'Lily' Randall.

"It's time."
