Meant to Live Ch. 2: Failed Attempts to Fly
by Tru Faith
A/N: Thank you all for reviewing! I would've gotten this chap. up earlier this week, but I was all with the 'being sick', so now I'm on at midnight posting it! This is definitely a R/L shipper story. But obviously, there's gonna be more going on to Lily than romance. BTW, anyone know where to find any RFR video clips? Just wondering... Anyways, REVIEW AT THE END OF THE CHAPTER! Later days. Oh and due to the storyline, Lily's b-day is in December.

December 2nd, 2003
Lily walked through the halls of Roscoe High that day, happier than she'd been in a very long time. Tomorrow would be her 15th birthday, and although she hated the fact she was born in the Fall, or December for that matter, she was determined to make it a memorable day. She turned the corner only to find Ray, Robbie, and Travis gathered around her locker, talking about god knows what. She stopped, feet away from them. "Guys?"
All three turned in her direction, completely silent. She crossed her arms. "Why are you in front of my locker?"
"Um...We were...Uh..." Ray stammered. "We wanted to...say hi!"
Lily raised an eyebrow suspiciously. "Since when do you all wait at my locker to say hi?"
Robbie shrugged. "We figured, since you've been really out of it lately, we'd try and cheer you up."
"It's Travis' job to be the downer, not yours." Ray added comically. Lily gave a small smile at the comment.
"Yeah, the first part of our plan was to meet you at your locker." Robbie concluded weakly.
Lily's brow furrowed, interested. "And what the second part?"
"We don't know yet." Travis intervened.
With that, the bell rung. Kids rushed by them, determined not be late. Lily looked to the clock above the set of lockers. Her eyes grew wide. "Crap! I haven't even put my stuff away!"
While putting away her things, she then noticed that her friends were still there. She gathered her books and they all walked down the hallway together. She stared oddly at the three. "Why did you guys wait for me?"
"If you go down for being late, we all do." Ray responded firmly. Travis and Robbie nodded. Lily grinned at her friends as they continued to walk to 1st period. Something made her stop, though. Her senses seemed to be going on overdrive. Suddenly, a tremble came from the ground beneath them. The four leaned against a nearby wall for support. Lily looked towards the 'T' junction in the hallway coming up. A tiny, almost invisible speck of blue light was right in the middle of it. The speck grew quickly into the same size of the junction itself. Lily's eyes widened at the blue, almost translucent...thing. It's like a portal in a sci-fi movie, she thought. All of a sudden, a gaping hole form in the middle of it and it seemed like a incredibly strong wind was pulling all of them into it. The noise around them was so booming, she couldn't here her own terrified screams. With nothing to hold onto around them, all four unwillingly were pulled into the blue portal. It closed, as they all crossed through it. Yet no one else around that scene seemed to notice, much less be phased, by the event itself.

Without warning, Lily, Ray, Robbie, and Travis, plopped to the ground in a large cemetery. For Lily, the fall, definitely stung, but she was still conscious. She strained to pick herself up, then quickly dusted herself off. She looked around the unfamiliar place. For the first time, she noticed it was night, when not 10 minutes ago, it was morning. Grave markers were scarce luckily, so none of them would get hurt. The others! She searched around her frantically for her friends, finally finding one after another. Unfortunately, they were all unconscious. Before being able to tend to her friends, an unknown, but very familiar, voice called out, "Duck!"
Instead of following the order, Lily turned around got punched across the face, sending her spiraling to the ground. Extremely sore all over, especially the right side of her jaw, she laid there, a tiny bit afraid of getting up at the time. She kept her eyes shut tight for a while, listening to the punches and kicks of the fight going on just 2 feet away. Soon she heard something else that was fairly familiar, but equally hard to place. She let out a deep breath after the cemetery got eerily quiet, but started coughing due to a heavy amount of dust in the air. Dust? She opened her eyes, seeing a hand extended in front of her. Hesitatingly, she took it, a shocked expression crossing her face. The woman in front of her was all to recognizable. She squinted as if thinking her eyes were deceiving her. Lily tried her best to form some kind of words. "B...Bu...B-buff..."
Overcome with the thoughts racing through her mind, plus this person she stood in front of, Lily fell to the ground unconsciously, a tombstone only inches away from her head.

Buffy peered down at the girl, who she presumed was Lily. The reaction this girl had to her was amusing among other things. I mean, I knew being the-...a Slayer was special, but since when did I have a fan club? She thought, smiling lightly at the thought of a fan club. She returned her thoughts to the others her were also unconscious. Willow had told her where Lily would be 'landing', but never said anything about these three boys who landed here as well. Will had said there was a slight chance of other people being sucked in, but more than one might be a problem. Buffy dropped Mr. Pointy into her jean jacket pocket. She let out a deep sigh and folded her arms. Slowly shaking her head, she kneeled down beside Lily. "Told ya to duck."
