Chapter 1

Muggle parent, and without the knowledge of what she was getting into, Kaylin Binakitch waved goodbye and was left at Kings Cross to find her way. She pushed her trolley to the barrier between platforms nine and ten. While she was trying to figure out how to get onto her platform, she was knocked over by one of the many parents rushing to see their children off to school.
"You'd think they'd at least stop and help me pick up my things." Kaylin muttered in annoyance.
"Damn Muggles, never stop and watch where they're going." Someone had bent over to help her, there was at least one decent person in the building. When she looked up she almost dropped her things after one glance at him. He was a stunning young boy. Maybe the most handsome she'd ever met. "Are you alright then?" he said after handing her the items that had scattered.
"Fine, thanks." He then stood up and walked right through the barrier. "So that's how you do it." She gathered her trolley and strode through the barrier after him. 'What was his name, I hope I can find him again.' she thought but sure enough, by the time she got to the platform, there was no sign of him.
Once she got on the train, there were no empty compartments so she tried to find the one he was in. The only compartment available had two great oafs in it, but oh well, she has the whole year to find him.
After about ten minutes, Kaylin had had enough of the two of them gawking at her when the compartment door slid open. There he was. She couldn't believe it. That slick blonde hair, those deep pools of blue. He also seemed to be surprised.
"Didn't expect that anyone besides Crabb and Goyle enjoyed their company." He said, taking a seat beside her.
"It was the first compartment that wasn't full." Kaylin replied.
"I didn't have the chance to properly introduce myself. Everyone call me by my last name, Malfoy. But you can call me Draco."
"Do I need to get to know you better before I can call you Malfoy?"
"No, only special people do I allow to call me by my first name. It's a status thing."
"So does that mean you consider me your status?"
"Until I know otherwise, yes."
"Well, I'm Kaylin Binakitch."
"Geez, that's a mouth full."
"And you can call me Kaylin, it's a status thing." She said mocking his intro.
"That or no one can pronounce your last name."
"There's that too."
They sat and talked for what only seemed like a few seconds, when the train pulled in at Hogwarts. They stepped out of the compartment still entranced with each other. That was until a fellow student butted in.
"Who's the girl?" said the boy in a demeaning tone.
And to her shock he didn't stick up for her at all. In fact his attitude completely changed...for the worse. "Just some little mudblood. Felt sorry for her, no friends yet."
"No wonder, where did you get those horrendous robes? Off a corpse, I expect." He laughed at his own joke, and walked off following Draco, who didn't once look back. How could he? After all of the time they spent. Did he really think nothing of her? And what the hell was a mudblood anyway? She could tell already there were going to be lots of surprises this year, not even knowing the half of it.
