Frozen Tears

Trying to hold them back for as
Long as I can
No one can release my pain,
No one understands.

I stand alone and that is
Fine with me
This way I am safe from
Love and charity.

My tears are frozen and
So is my pain.
Struggling to suppress it,
I have no one to blame.

The pain of letting you go
Is killing something inside
But that is my own secret
The one I have to hide.

I am afraid and I know this
To be the disturbing truth.
Although I know I am strong,
Inside I'm as fragile as a youth.

I'm afraid that once the tears start
They would never cease.
Like a river flowing steadily
Into the open seas.

I am scared to show the hurt
For I know that in their eyes
Lies only pity that is wrapped as
Sympathy in disguise.

So that is why I wear an iron mask
Of indifference and anger.
I hide it behind my sharp wit
And often sarcastic banter.

But deep inside of me I harbor
Secret hidden fears.
Deep inside the place called my heart,
Reside my frozen tears.

This was just a poem I wrote for the one and only Severus Snape. After reading so many fics about him secretly longing for Lily Potter, I came to think of it as something that could have quietly easily tortured the poor professor's soul for years. sniff poor Sev! reaches out and hugs Severus "Unhand me, you dunderhead!" Snape, never being one to get cuddly, cries out in alarm. "Never!" miss sheree cries as she chases the elusive potions master all over the room.
