Today was the day, the day Harry got to return to his beloved Hogwarts. He
couldn't wait. A wave of excitement washed over his body as they reached
platform 9 ¾. He and Ron ran through the platform together and Hermione,
and Ginny followed. Mrs. Weasley pulled them all into a huge bone crushing
hug and wished them a good time. She also warned them to stay out of
trouble. Ginny and Ron just rolled their eyes at this comment, they bid
their mum goodbye and boarded the train.
Hermione found them a suitable compartment and they all sat down and settled in for the long ride to Hogwarts. Ron was just about to nod off as someone knocked on the door. It was Lila, "Ca-Can I come in?" she said in a rather quiet voice. She seemed different from the girl he had met at the bookstore, Harry thought.
"Yes," Harry managed to say.
Lila nodded to him and sat quietly by Hermione. Soon after Ron and Hermione were arguing over something stupid again, Harry looked over at Lila. She was just staring, blankly at the wall. A silent tear fell down her cheek.
"Lila?" Lila are you alright?" Harry stared not knowing what to do. Lila looked startled and tried to wipe the tear away but another one soon replaced it.
"Lila what happened?!" gasped Hermione.
"A lot," Lila sniffled as Hermione hugged her.
"Like what?" Hermione asked sympathetically.
"Well, you see, my dad he... he died over the summer and-and" She gasped for breath,
"Just now Corey," she sniffled, "...dumped me." She buried her head in Hermione's shoulder. Hermione gave her a look of the utmost sympathy and Ron just stayed quiet.
"I'm sorry." Harry stared at her.
"If it makes you feel better I promise we'll stomp Slytherin in Quidditch this year." Ron tried to cheer her up.
Lila looked at the two and wiped her tears, "Thanks." She paused gaining composure. "Its too bad your brothers wont be around to smack him a good one with a bludger. The slimy git."
Dean Thomas stuck his head in their compartment, "Heads up guys, Malfoy's making his rounds." He nodded toward Harry. "Lo."
"Ello." Harry said as Dean left.
They all looked at Lila who seemed to be thinking. She quickly got up and searched her pockets.
"I've got one here somewhere..." She muttered pulling out a Filibusters No Heat Wet Start Firework and placed it in the doorway.
"Ron." She said and pointed toward Hermione who looked surprised. "Sit by Hermione." Ron hesitated. "HURRY!" Lila added.
"O.k.?" He said getting up and sitting by her. Lila then sat down, rather close, to Harry just as a familiar face appeared in the doorway.
"Well well, looks like Potter has a new friend." He smirked. Harry rolled his eyes; it was none other than Draco Malfoy.
"Nice to see you too." Lila said imitating Malfoy's pompous tone. Ron snorted holding back laughter. Core appeared standing next to Malfoy. Corey stared at Harry and Lila with clear dislike.
"Amazing," he said.
Malfoy smirked, "At least they found someone who can almost fight back." Corey rolled his eyes and Malfoy narrowed in on Harry and Lila. "Has Potter found himself a girlfriend?"
Harry, who was shocked, opened his mouth to speak but was cut off by Corey.
"Not much of a girlfriend Potter." He said smirking at Lila.
Again Harry began to speak but couldn't.
"Eat sparks Corey!!" Lila yelled and spit at him, but missed, the spit did not land on him but the firework. There was a loud bang and sparks flew everywhere. Malfoy and Corey made a weird screeching noise and ran out of the compartment. Ron and Harry had never laughed so hard, and Lila looked quite proud of herself.
"Lila! You could get in trouble!!" Hermione looked horrified.
"Aw, be quiet Hermione. Lila's my hero! Did you see Malfoy? He looked like he was going to wet himself." Ron said still laughing. Harry noticed he was still sitting very close to Lila and looked at her. She just seemed to notice this as well; she blushed a light shade of pink. "Sorry Harry."
"Its ok." He said, Harry had never met a girl like her before. Lila was funny, pretty, and didn't care about breaking any rules she was like the anti-Hermione. She had a nice smile and...
"Harry," Ron shook him. "Come on."
Harry looked out the window to see that the train had stopped and there were students already boarding Horseless Carriages. Harry and Ron walked to one and climbed in. Hermione and Lila were already sitting. Hermione was talking to Lila about the N.E.W.T.S. Harry again found himself sitting next to Lila. Not that it mattered, although, did Ron keep shooting him amused looks.
As they finally walked into the Great Hall and sat down at Gryffindor Table the sorting began. Harry couldn't help but notice how many Slytherins and Ravenclaws there were this year. As the last first year was seated, (A small nervous looking Hufflepuff girl,) the food appeared. Ron looked happily at it and dug in along with his fellow students. Eventually the students would slow down and wait for everyone else to get done. Harry didn't think he'd ever eat again after that meal. The Gryffindor students made their way up to the Common Room and sat down. Most went straight to bed.
Harry, Ron, and Hermione sat down in some armchairs by the fire.
"So what do you think of Lila?" Asked Hermione eagerly.
"I already told you, she's my hero." Ron laughed, "Such a great plan, Fred and George couldn't do it any better." He said referring to the incident on the Hogwarts Express.
"Oh Ron," Hermione rolled her eyes annoyed, then turned to Harry. "And you?"
"She's very prett-er very nice." Hermione and Ron stared at him.
"You like her!" Ron sneered.
"Uuhh no?"
"Oh Ron, leave him alone!" Hermione said looking absolutely thrilled.
"Don't get any ideas." Harry said going slightly pink as Lila walked over.
"Lo," She smiled brightly.
"Hi," Harry smiled.
"What have you guys got tomorrow?" Asked Hermione pointing at her schedule.
Ron's face screwed up. "Eugh, Potions, Divinations, Care of Magical Creatures, and Astronomy."
Harry glanced at his, "WHAT?!" He almost yelled, "Ron! The only thing we have together is Care of Magical Creatures!"
Lila cursed rather loudly, "NO!" She had just glanced at her own schedule. "I've got Divinations first." Harry compared their schedules.
"We have all the same classes." Lila smiled slightly as he said this.
"Looks like we all have Care of Magical Creatures together." Hermione said pointing to her own schedule.
As more students started to filter off to bed Harry, Ron, Hermione, and Lila decided it would be best to go too, especially if they wanted to get through potions tomorrow. Harry smiled to himself as he walked into his dorm. It had been a long time, too long, since he had been here. Drawing the curtains around his four-poster bed his thoughts slowed and he drifted off to sleep.
