"Ta-Da?" Lila repeated foolishly and stared at Pavarti.
Harry didn't know what to think, he stood there confused looking from Pavarti to Lila and back to Pavarti again. Lavender started laughing uncontrollably, Harry glared at her.
"Yes, you've figured it out." Pavarti said giving her a your stupid look.
Lila sat in shock; Harry was the mystery man she had been tormented about for so long? Why didn't he just tell her and make her life a whole lot easier? Soon the shock faded and embarrassment took its place. She really didn't want her mystery man to be standing right there when she found out, a light pink graced her cheeks as she looked up at him. He was still staring at Pavarti.
"Me?" He said in a squeaky voice. Pavarti nodded, Harry then blushed and muttered, "Why didn't you just keep quiet about it then! Trelawney didn't want her to know anyway!"
"And since when are you one to follow the rules Harry?" Pavarti spat back at him with a devilish smile.
"Right then, hope you had fun making me feel like and idiot." He said looking around, class was over and students were filtering out the door. 'Good, an escape.' He thought picking up his bag and heading out the door without a second glance.
"That went well," Lavender remarked.
"Its Harry? I mean... for sure? That's who you saw? And what exactly did you see?" Lila had a million questions in her head that needed to be answered.
Pavarti giggled, "C'mon, we'll walk with you to Potions and tell you the whole thing."
Harry and Lila didn't come in contact till lunch, and for that Harry was grateful. He was mortified, he himself hadn't even realized he liked Lila, at least... it didn't really register with him but now that he thought about it, it did, but she didn't like him back, 'especially now' he thought. He was glad that Ron and Hermione didn't know about it maybe they'd never have to find out. Yeah that would be nice...
Lila walked into the Great Hall in the middle of a giggling, whispering, Pavarti, and Lavender sandwich. She waved goodbye to the two and sat down across from Harry and beside Hermione. "Hi guys." Ron and Hermione both greeted her as usual but then Hermione and Lila started to whisper. Lila would smile and both the girls would giggle.
Harry kept his head down; he could feel his face reddening by the second. He didn't have much of an appetite left.
"What's wrong with you?" Ron asked giving him a weird look.
"Long story, I'm sure you'll hear sometime." Harry replied glancing at Hermione who was eyeing him with a triumphant smile on her face that made Harry even more uncomfortable. Harry was never so happy to see a Friday end. After supper it was officially the weekend and he had grabbed his broom and ran out to the quidditch pitch before anyone could talk to him. He didn't want to talk to anyone right now.
The evening air was cool and crisp against his face; the wind was soft but went right through his robes sending a chill down his spine. The sky was yellow and orange but those colors were soon edged out by pink, indigo, and eventually black. The stars smiled down on him as he stood watching the sky, he was deep in thought about nothing in particular. Harry hadn't even mounted his broom yet when Lila walked up beside him, "Beautiful isn't it?" She asked startling him. He turned to face her and his heart sank to the pit of his stomach.
"Uhm, yeah," He replied, his voice was unnaturally high.
Lila looked at him for a moment and smiled, "So, uh, you come out here and practice by yourself a lot?"
"Well no I was just-"
"Avoiding me." Lila finished for him.
"No!" He started but she gave him an unconvinced look. "Well kind of, not really I just was afraid of... well I don't know really I just thought you wouldn't want to see me... I think."
She shrugged, "Guess you thought wrong?" Lila looked over at his broom, "I had forgotten you had a Firebolt!" She said looking at it in awe.
Her sudden change of subject made him un-easy, yet it was a welcome change. It was much easier for him to talk about Quidditch. "Yeah, but its not the fastest anymore."
Lila shook her head as if she were dismissing his thought, "Ahh, yeah but it's the fastest one at Hogwarts and really that's all that matters, and with Malfoys dad in Azkaban I doubt anyone will the twenty-eight. Most people only have Comets anyway." She added thinking of her own broom that was currently at her house since she hadn't made the house team.
"I suppose." He said examining his broom, he soon felt that sinking feeling in the pit of his stomach again, "You didn't come out here to talk about quidditch did you?" He asks uncomfortably rubbing the back of his neck.
"Well, no, not exactly." She confessed, "Though I'm not quite sure what I did come out here to talk about. I just wanted to talk to you I guess."
