"This isn't working, Kenshin." Kaoru whispered, keeping her eyes on the ground.
Kenshin looked bewildered.
Tears filled Kaoru's eyes. "I'm sorry, Kenshin, but I just can't live with this kind of relationship...you're always saying good-bye, and it just breaks my heart. I'm so sorry, but I need to go far away, and that means that I'm going to have to say bye to you." Kaoru stood and left, the tears streaming down her face like the rain streaming down on her at the moment.
And Kenshin just stood there, his heart broken in two.

She put him out like the burnin' end of a midnight cigarette She broke his heart he spent his whole life tryin' to forget...

As many years went by, Kenshin tried to forget about Kaoru, but a piece of her still lingered in his mind.
Everyday, he would have a drink...until it became a life-long habit. And it was all to forget about her.
Then, one night, Kenshin couldn't take it anymore, and he pulled a gun out of his drawer and shot himself in the head.

We watched him drink his pain away a little at a time But he never could get drunk enough to get her off his mind Until the night
He put that bottle to his head and pulled the trigger And finally drank away her memory Life is short but this time it was bigger Than the strength he had to get up off his knees We found him with his face down in the pillow With a note that said I'll love her till I die And when we buried him beneath the willow The angels sang a whiskey lullaby La la la la la la la, la la la la la la la...

The news soon reached Kaoru. No one knew it, but she blamed herself for Kenshin's suicide.
For years, she tried to hide the whiskey on her breath, until one night she pulled out a gun and shot herself in the head. And it was to forget about him.

The rumors flew but nobody knew how much she blamed herself For years and years she tried to hide the whiskey on her breath She finally drank her pain away a little at a time But she never could get drunk enough to get him off her mind Until the night
She put that bottle to her head and pulled the trigger And finally drank away his memory Life is short but this time it was bigger Than the strength she had to get up off her knees We found her with her face down in the pillow Clinging to his picture for dear life...

Kenshin and Kaoru were buried next to each other beneath the willow that they last saw each other...

We laid her next to him beneath the willow While the angels sang a whiskey lullaby La la la la la la la, la la la la la la la...

A/N: Well, there it is. It is a one shot thingy, so I don't really care if you think it's crappy...flames are welcome. Like I said, this was a one shot thing...I heard the song and was bored so I wrote this. It's a good song...you should listen to it. It has a pretty sad melody, but is still good, so yeah.
