Shinji/Rei Fanfic

This fanfic takes place in the AU shown in the last episode of the series.
"It was all your fault! If you hadn't been looking up that transfer student's skirt I wouldn't have gotten into this mess!"
The entire class glared at Asuka through squinted eyes. Shinji simply sighed.
"Ikari Shinji, the principal will see you now."
Shinji nodded. "Hai." He walked in.
Rei nodded dutifully. "Hai, demo..."
"That kind of behavior will not be tolerated, neither by you nor by Miss Soryu. Understood?"
"Wakata."
Rei turned around and left, opening the door and ignoring the surprised red-haired girl starting away from the other side.
"Wow, touch luck. Just transferring here and already in trouble. how will that look on your record?"
Rei ignored her and walked on. Asuka, slightly annoyed at her impudence, continued.
"Hey, what's with the attitude? Too good to talk to me?"
"Iie."
At that, the girls began to glare at each other, and the tension of a coming fight could be felt by everyone. That is, except one.
"Oi! Asuka! Ayanami-san!"
The girls looked up to see Shinji, sparkling in shoujo-manga fashion.
Group sparkle
Shinji sweatdrops
"I'm really sorry for bumping into you this morning, Ayanami-san."
Still sparkling "Call me Rei."
"Ayanami, this is the hentai who looked up your skirt, do you really..."
"I don't care. He can call me what he wants..." Sparkle
"Shinji, are you going to... Oh, nevermind." With that, Asuka left.
"Asuka, where are you going?" Shinji called after her.
"You and Wondergirl can do what you want, it's not like I care."
Rei blinked. "Really?" evil grin
