As she looked into his eyes, Kagome smiled, for she was looking at the face on her true love. The face she once loved, not the face which deceived others, but the face was gentle and sweet. "Inuyasha..." she started as she sat on the bench below them, "Can I ask you a question?" Inuyasha sat down beside her, "Sure."
Kagome looked at the ground, mustering up strength, then looked at the hanyou, "Do you love me?" Inuyasha just stared at her, he thought, 'What can I tell her? But...' Kagome stared at him, "And what about Kikyou? Do you love her?" she quickly asked. Inuyasha, now with a terrible dilemma, thinks again, 'Kikyou...Of course I love Kagome...but, Kikyou...'He leaned back against the wall behind them and stared up at the orange sun that was starting to set over the mountains. "Yes Kagome, I love you, but you and I both know I can't forget about Kikyou, she is dead but walking among the living because of me..."
When Kagome thinks she knows where this is going, she looks at the ground and regrets that she ever brought it up. But what she hears is unexpected, "Even thought I cannot forget her, I do not love her. From all of the times the others have told me that I cannot be with her, it took me just now to realize that...." he paused and looked up at Kagome, "...it's true." Kagome lifted her head, making sure of what he said. She gives him a big hug, knocking both off the bench and onto the ground. Kagome lands on top of Inuyasha, she looks down at him and giggles. Inuyasha looks up at Kagome with a sense of satisfaction, he has finally gotten over Kikyou, and can now live his life with Kagome. "Do you love me?" Inuyasha mocks Kagome playfully. "Yes Inuyasha, I have forgotten about Kouga and Hojou, I am all yours. "Kagome stated with a smile.
Inuyasha stared up at her, and she stops smiling and gets a serious face on. They gaze into each others eyes like they were the only souls alive. Inuyasha's ears twitched as he started to leave up slowly. Kagome moved closer as well. Their lips were about to touch when all of a sudden, "Kagome!!!" Kagome pulled her head back, hearing Inuyasha's voice screaming. She had her eyes shut so she opened them and looked down at Inuyasha's mouth, which was not moving. Kagome was puzzled, then again she heard Inuyasha yelling at her, "Kagome! Come on!!" Kagome was confused and looked down at Inuyasha, he too was very puzzled. Just then, his eyes when white and he slowly began to fade away. Kagome screamed as she fell to the ground. She then felt something on her shoulder and swung her hand behind her and felt it hit. "OWWW!!!" she heard Inuyasha's voice and she opened her eyes and turned around.
She sees Inuyasha on the ground. He sat up, covering the swollen handprint on his reddened cheek. "Uh, Inuyasha...?" Kagome stared at him in confusion. "What the hell did you do that for, Kagome?!" Inuyasha jumped up and ran over to her. "Umm...what happened? You were just under me...and we were about to...but you disappeared...and...." she was cut off by Inuyasha, "What in the hell are you talking about?! You fell asleep!"
