Hermione looked at him from across the room as he inhaled from his
cigarette. Draco looked beautiful. He sighed contently as he exhaled the
smoke. She wondered
She wondered if they'd have to hate each other in the morning, as they
always did. How long had it been this way? Since sixth year. And now, one
year after the end of their
schooling, Voldemort reigned still. Draco peered up from above the rim of
his glasses, which was another secret they kept. "I love you, do you know
that?" Hermione smiled
at the thought of it being that easy. They were on opposing sides, how in
all the seven hells could he? "Are you sure?" She asked him. "He looked at
her with mournful eyes.
She looked away. She knew the moment was up. "When day comes, will you hate
me again?" Hermione's voice was full of ice and hurt. "I...I don't know, but
do you want it
to be this way? If you hate me in the day, how can you love me at night?"
She shrugged at her lover's question. "It's easy this way, no real
obligations. The moon does strange
things to me..." She lingered on her lie. Draco dragged her hand and pulled
her to him. "There's no bloody moon tonight! Damn it, I love you. What more
do you want from
me?" Though he buried his face in her chest, she knew he was crying. She
cursed the war. She cursed the Dark Lord and she cursed Harry. She wished
desperately that they
were on the same side. Hermione loved Draco too. "I want you to promise not
to change your mind." There was a long time of silence and she was now
crying too. "I'm nothing like you and I hate it! I'm light, you're dark.
I'm good, you're bad. I'm day and you're
night. You'll change your mind, I know it!" She growled at herself. "Oh,
why couldn't I have pretended for a little longer? If only this moment was
eternity..." They held each
other, both almost overcome by their misfortune. She sobbed slightly.
"Shhh, we still have the night." She complied with a kiss and they spent
the night in each others arms.
When they woke, nothing changed...
He smacked her painfully hard on the rear as she locked her door. "I hate
you! Why do you do that to me?" She growled, almost losing her temper.
"Have you looked at the sky? It's daytime, love. I don't know, the sun just
does something to me." Draco pushed Hermione against the wall and kissed
her roughly. He slid his hand up her skirt and let it linger on her thigh
as they kissed. They broke apart as muggles were coming up. "See you
tonight." They said and both apparated away.
