Summary: Yes, its way overdone, but Rory decides Jess is worth giving another chance. Starts at the end of "Last Week Fights…"

Rory watched through her window as Jess walked out to the dark Yale parking lot. Her chest was tightly constricted, her breathing shallow. She wanted to follow him, to beat him senseless for leaving yet again without a goodbye. She took a deep breath and rose to her feet, running before she had a chance to change her mind.

When she reached his car, it hadn't been started. He was sitting in the front seat with his forehead resting upon the steering wheel, tears unseen in his eyes. She knocked lightly on the window. His head slowly rose and his eyes met hers with an unparalleled sadness.

She walked around the vehicle and opened the passenger-side door, sitting next to him in the surprisingly clean car. He was quiet, letting their breathing fill the silence for a moment.

"I thought you would just… leave."

Jess chuckled a little.

"'What I was really hanging around for, I was trying to feel some kind of a goodbye. I mean I've left schools and places I didn't even know I was leaving them. I hate that. I don't care if it's a sad goodbye or a bad goodbye, but when I leave a place I like to know I'm leaving it. If you don't, you feel even worse.'"

Rory smiled a bit, biting her lip.

"Reciting Salinger isn't going to get you out of this conversation, Jess. I want to have this conversation. You claim you're ready, and I want to believe you. So let's talk."

He nodded, dark locks of hair falling into his eyes. He felt 17 again, his heart thudding in his chest to the rhythm his mind took through his thoughts.

"Okay…"

He began.
