This is an incredibly difficult form of poetry called a sestina. It is based on the movement and repetition of six words. I hope you enjoy it!
Ignore the random periods. FF.net won't allow breaks for the stanzas without doing it that way.

Life By the Gun
It was a hot and lonely life in Gunsmoke.
The sun reached down its long fingers
to kiss the sandy windswept surface
and take away what little water the people had.
It was there that this man existed,
there that he lived his life one step at a time.
.
For that was all he could do a time
when he had to move like smoke
in the air. He had to exist
where no one's itchy trigger fingers
could find him. He had
to move beneath the surface,
.
for it was the people on the surface
who wanted to end his time
on the little dusty planet for what he had
done. So he wandered around Gunsmoke
with a bright red coat and brown gloves on his fingers,
and sometimes he wondered why he even existed.
.
She was positive that he existed
and was sent to search beneath the surface
reaching out through the long spreading fingers
of rumor to dig through time and time
again, pushing away all the smoke
and mirrors to be where he had
.
already been. When she found him she had
denied that such a being could possibly exist.
What kind of man could be so stupid, his filled with smoke
and nothing bright beneath his silly surface?
But she had a job to do and time
was money, so they moved around like fingers
.
stretching outward, and his long rough fingers
grabbed hers much like her first love's had,
but she could not remember a time
when he had made the feelings exist
like the man in red had, pulling to the surface
her happiness like faint wisps of smoke.
.
And the smoke of guns ruled their lives like it had
before their fingers touched and before their love existed,
and when she walked together across the sandy surface, she could only pray for more time.

A/N: Well, check back with my author's page to find more sestinas if you like this one. I'm working on a few. Also check out, "Unwavering From A Candle." It is my Rurouni Kenshin poetry. Please review!
