Yesterday,

I saw a bird, flying free
In the blue sky, above our pain
I thought of you, and how you smile gently

The way you cry when I lock you up,
Breaking your wings, shattering your dreams
Making you sob: "Why do you do this to me?"

Flinching at my touch, I whispered in your ear:
"Because I want to be the only one who loves you,
I want to be the only one who hurts you"

Head bowed in submission, accepting your iniquitous fate
My caged bird who can never sing, my lovely little toy
Oh how I love hurting you

You looked up at me, tears staining your porcelin face
"Why do you torture me,
when you say you love me?"

My mind had no answer, the key of reason lost
My heart aching, starving for love
"I do not want to die alone."
