The Beginning in the Middle

It's been a tumultuous year for Booth and Brennan, as though the years before had been much easier. With the death of Squintern Mr. Nigel-Murray, the couple crosses a threshold that will mark the beginning of a new chapter of their lives.

THE BEGINNING IN THE MIDDLE

Let's get the legal stuff out of the way first.

I do not own nor have created the characters within this story, but have merely borrowed them. All rights to the series Bones and it's characters belong to Fox. Thank you to the actors, writers, producers, etc who created this amazing show which continues to live on in hearts four years after cancellation.

INTRODUCTION

For those of you familiar with my fanfic musings for Remington Steele, you know who and what I am about in term of writing for the fictional characters that have captured my heart. Unless a story is noted as (AU – Alternate Reality), I write strictly following canon, while fleshing out the parts that happened behind the scenes, which is where the creativity comes in. I focus heavily on the characters thoughts and feelings, as that is what made us fall in love with the characters in the first place. I will write some steamy chapters, since most viewers feel 'robbed' that they never got to see those steamy scenes on the show. And, I often provide my thoughts on people's questions and comments.

There are those that have commented the day Bones and Booth FINALLY got together they felt 'ripped off' that the scene didn't play out on the screen. I disagree. I think it is entirely in keeping with character as both are very, very, private people. Unlike 'the dream,' the night they consummated their relationship they would wish to keep that between them. Remember: "What goes on between us is ours."

The second most common comment I have come upon is "Once they got together they were boring." I disagree with this statement with every fiber of my Bones fan and writer's heart. Yes, those longing looks Booth does so well do not occur as often or the eye locks between them that hint of their feelings, a kiss that may, but never does, come. They are, instead, replaced by something far, far better. The look of pride on Booth's face, for whatever it is Bones has done; Booth's crooked grins and flex of his hips when Bones says something pleasing about their sex life; or, the way Bones will spontaneously kiss him while on the job declaring 'I don't care. I love you.'

Their devotion to their children… and family – both the ones they were born a part of and the one they created together in the course of their jobs.

But it is so much more than even that. As Aldo said to Booth "What you and Temperance have, it's the reason we draw breath.' And he's right. The trust, the faith, the love, the acceptance, the protectiveness, the contentment, the comfort, the enjoyment of sharing their lives and the unshakeable loyalty to one another, is something few will ever know in their personal relationship.

"I love every day…"

This is the type of abiding love we all strive for and few will ever know, which is perhaps why, while many are devoted to seasons 1-5, my happy place is seasons 7 and onward.

Just a couple of thoughts 😊

One last note: Fans of my RS fanfic know the drill. My stories are NEVER short, often venturing into the length of several printed books. I upload a few chapters each week, normally on the weekends. Some like to read as we go and interact, while others wait until the story concludes and binge read. Whichever person you are, I hope you enjoy and pray I honor these characters in my writings.
