Chapter 27
It had taken two days, but Wesley, Leo, Paige and Piper, finally figured out a way to bring back Angel and Phoebe.
Wesley had put in a call to Willow Rosenberg, a trusted friend of Angel's. She was a powerful witch, who had rid them all of Angelus, twice.
Now her help was needed again.
Leo had insisted, that for the babies sakes, Wyatt and Peyton be orbed up to the Elders, just so there was no chance of either of them being snatched. Drusilla and Spike reluctantly agreed....then disappeared!
Paige suspected that the two of them were at Spike's place, making up for lost time! So did Piper, and she was livid!
'I really hope not, Paige!' Piper snapped, as she studied various spell books that Wesley had brought to the manor. 'Because everything that we've went through has been because of her!'
'Wow! Now you sound like Phoebe used to.'
'Don't say that! Don't talk about her in past tense. We'll get her back. All I'm saying is that Dru and Spike should be here to help us, instead of off screwing around!'
'And I'm saying that we don't know that they're doing that! Maybe Spike is using his demon contacts to help.'
Piper stood up.
'Whatever! Look, Paige, I don't mean to snap at you. I just think that if Willow can help us get Phoebe and Angel back, then we should make a clean break of Drusilla.'
Paige stood up as well.
'Are you serious? She's a Charmed One!'
'And we did just fine with the power of three and will continue to do so. But part of being in this family is not running off and doing whatever the hell you'd like to, whenever you please!'
'I understand where you're coming from, Piper, really I do. I want Phoebe and Angel back just as much as you do, But Spike and Dru have had a rough time of it, relationship wise. His running off to see Buffy while Drusilla was pregnant and all of the other things they've had to go through....how do I put this? They were probably just overcome with passion.'
Piper squinted at her.
'I don't want to hear it, sister! Dru and Spike had better show up here by the end of the day, otherwise, we're going to have to seriously consider whether we want to call on her in a pinch!'
'She's not fully trained, Piper, and without access to the Book of Shadows....'
The sisters stopped talking, when they looked in a doorway and saw a sheepish looking Willow standing there. Wesley was behind her looking quite grave. Paige walked over to him.
'What is it?'
'I have to leave for a bit.'
'Why?' Paige asked, sensing trouble.
'I'll tell you when I get back.' Wesley said, kissing her quickly, before turning to go. Piper pointed after him.
'Where is he going? Where is he going, Paige?'
But it was Willow that slowly reached for Paige's hand.
'Don't worry. We'll get your sister and Angel back. I have the living room set up now for the spell. We won't need Wesley. Come out here and I'll tell you how this is going to work.'
Piper nodded, swiping at tears. But, she grasped Willow's hand and followed her out into the living room. Paige walked after them as well, but her mind was on Wesley's sudden exodus. What was going on?
Wesley walked into the same seedy demon bar, that Spike had met Clem in a few days before. He allowed his eyes to adjust to the darkness, before he began looking around for the person he was seeking. He saw her, sitting at a table in the corner.
Lilah Morgan.
Wesley hurried over to her table. Lilah reached out and touched his hand.
'Thank you for meeting me. You didn't have to.'
'I could hear it in your voice that something was wrong.'
'My voice betrayed vulnerability?' Lilah asked, her tone mildly sardonic.
But Wesley knew her too well, to be put off by any part of her personality.
'Just tell me what's happening?' Wesley asked.
Lilah looked him in the eye.
'The Senior Partners have decided that someone has to take the blame for the mess with Angelus being replaced by Belthazor, then Belthazor being vanquished. They feel that if I had never allowed Angelus to be turned back to Angel, basically, we would have the CEO that they had always envisioned. Personally, I thought Angelus was sloppy and unfocused.'
'So, you're the patsy?' Wesley asked quietly. Lilah nodded.
'I'm leaving town, or I'm going try and get as far as I can before they catch up with me. If I don't make it....'
'Lilah, we can help. The Charmed Ones....'
Lilah shook her head sadly.
'I'm tired, Wesley. I'm just tired of everything.'
Wesley eyed her.
'Lilah, are you planning on LETTING them find you? That would be suicide!'
But Lilah ignored his words and brought something up from underneath the table. It was a file.
'I couldn't just leave without letting you see these.'
Wesley opened up the folder. He then squinted. Something about the words seemed odd. They were from a passage, one that would need deciphering...
'Those are the missing pages from the Scrolls of Obearsian.'
Wesley's mouth dropped open!
'Lilah, what the bloody hell are you talking about? There were no missing pages!'
Lilah rolled her tongue around in her mouth.
'Yes there were.'
Wesley said nothing and began to try and decipher the scripture. Lilah coughed.
'Look, since time is of the essence, I'm just going to tell you what it says....paraphrasing of course. You know how Angel turns back into a human after a few plagues, coming darkness, etc.'
'Yes....what is this, Lilah?'
'Angel can turn human NOW, if he can reverse his greatest sin. Otherwise then yes, he will have to wait until all of that other crap happens. Look, I have to go. My point is this, if you're planning on reversing that vanquish that sent Angel and his girlfriend to hell with Belthazor, you won't be able to pull him out....unless he's human again.'
'Good God!' Wesley uttered. He slowly stood up, clutching the folder. Reverse Angel's greatest sin? Reverse his greatest sin? Was this what Angel felt was his greatest sin? Or what the Gods thought was Angelus's worst offense?
Wesley looked to Lilah again, but she was gone. Wesley tried to push aside the sadness he felt when it came to Lilah Morgan. He had tried to save her soul, on many occasions. But for some reason, Lilah knew it was hopeless. Her giving him this, would surely cost her her life.
Wesley turned and walked out of the bar. He needed to consult with Leo and the Elders. He also needed to stop Willow before she performed that spell!
WASTELAND
Meanwhile, Angel, Phoebe and Cole are standing on a narrow cliff that can barely hold the three of them. A beast in the sand eats every vanquished demon that comes down from the sky. It is waiting for one of the three of them, on the cliff, to fall as well.
Phoebe is locked in Angel's arms, as Cole stares down at the beast. He looks over at the two of them.
'You know, I killed this thing before.'
'I could give a damn!' Angel snapped, before looking down at a shaking Phoebe.
'Are you alright?'
'No, Angel, I am not alright! This place...'
'It's where the vanquished come before they actually die....by that beast in the sand there. C'mon Angel, I figure we could take this thing!' Cole said.
'Why don't you just do the decent thing and jump down into that thing's mouth?' Angel asked sarcastically.
Suddenly, Willow appeared on the cliff with them! Phoebe gasped! Angel's eyes widened and Cole turned around. He grinned.
'Rescue! Thank God!' he said, rubbing his hands together.
'Congelo!' Willow yelled, waving her hand. A shimmery blue force field froze Cole in place. Phoebe's mouth dropped open!
'Hey, Angel!' Willow said, her tone friendly. 'We couldn't have him coming back, so I froze him. Piper couldn't have done it...it's a really long story, so are you ready to go?'
'Get us the hell out of here!' Angel said loudly, eyeing the beast down in the sand. Angel could tell that he knew there was another lifeform on the cliff.
Willow reached for Phoebe and Angel....but couldn't hold on to Angel! Her hand slipped through him, as if he were a ghost!
'What's going on?!' Phoebe asked, almost hysterical. 'What's happening to Angel?!'
Willow was more than a bit disturbed as well! Why wasn't Angel corporeal?
'Angel, we'll be back for you!'
'No!' Phoebe yelled. 'I'm not leaving then!'
Angel reached out and touched Phoebe's face. Willow frowned. Angel could touch Phoebe but she couldn't grab onto him. What the heck was going on?!
'I'll be fine. You'll find a way!' he said, reassuring her.
'Angel, the freeze on Belthazor is going to wear off any minute. He's not going to share this cliff with you.' Willow warned.
'I know...go!' Angel said, nodding. Willow clasped a sobbing Phoebe's hand and disappeared with her.
Meanwhile, Angel did not have time to wonder what the hell was going on with him. Maybe, in some way, Willow had not been able to take him too, because on some level, he belonged here with Belthazor....in the belly of that sand beast down there.
The blue shimmery force field wore off, and Angel used the only advantage he had over Belthazor. The element of surprise.
Angel shoved Belthazor off of the cliff! Cole was stunned, as his first thought had been, once the freeze had worn off, was where the hell Phoebe had went?!
Cole tried to shimmer as he fell, but the sandbeast had been waiting for this particular victim, for way too long. It showed itself, rising up from underneath the sand and opening it's mouth to catch Cole. Angel peered down and locked eyes with Belthazor, before he disappeared, swallowed whole inside the beast. Angel then looked away. It was only a matter of time before that was him.
SPIKE'S APARTMENT
In the back of Drusilla's mind, she knew that she and Spike should be helping her sister witches, get Angel and Phoebe back. But she could not concentrate at the moment.
Drusilla barely felt the water pouring down on her in the shower. Her legs were wrapped around Spike's waist, his hands were on her buttocks, as he moved within her, in a slow, leisurely rhythm.
Spike was also giving her a hickey!
They were soon more than startled, when someone knocked on the glass door of the shower. Spike, who's face was buried in Dru's neck, did not hear the pounding, but Dru did, since the back of her head was against the door.
'Spike....Spike...I think someone's in the bathroom.....' Dru gasped. Spike lifted his head.
'Bloody hell! Who would dare break in here.....'
'We have to stop....'
'The bloody hell we do! Who's out there?! Piss off!'
'Spike, it's Wesley and Leo. Climb off of one another and we'll see you out in the other room.'
Drusilla gasped! This was so embarrassing! She forced Spike to stop and turned to peek out of the door. Wesley and Leo were no longer there. She turned back to Spike, who looked surlier than hell!
'Let's just go, Spike. This could be about Angel and Phoebe.'
'So?' Spike asked, reaching for her waist and pulling her to him again.
'Spike now, c'mon! Let's be good about this, alright? It's bad enough that we haven't been helping! And we owe Angel....'
'We don't owe Angel a bloody thing! And his attitude was bad before he was vanquished. I didn't like the way he was looking at you!'
'Spike! Angel loves Phoebe.'
'So he says!'
'So what are you saying? That he deserves to be vanquished with the likes of Belthazor?'
Spike softened.
'No, I suppose not.'
Drusilla smiled and kissed him.
'Look, once we get Angel and Phoebe back, we can get Peyton from the Elders and be a real family.'
'The only way we'll be a real family, Dru, is if you marry me. And you haven't said anything to my proposals. Why?'
Drusilla really didn't know why, except that she had this feeling that she had unfinished business left. Unfinished business with the past.
'We'll talk about it after we get Angel and Phoebe back.' she said firmly, before she climbed out of the shower and put on a robe. She then grabbed a towel and wrapped it around her head. She then padded out to the living room, where Wesley and Leo were waiting.
Drusilla sat down on a couch and looked at Leo.
'How are Peyton and Wyatt?'
Leo nodded.
'Good. It should be safe enough for them to return really soon.'
Drusilla tilted her head. More than anything, she wanted to hold her baby again. But she was puzzled by Leo's words.
'So, you've found a way to bring back Angel and Phoebe?'
'Actually, Phoebe is back.' Wesley said. Leo sighed and rolled his eyes. Drusilla turned to look at where Leo was staring.
Spike walked out of the bathroom, stark naked and plopped down on the couch next to Drusilla. He then lit up a cigarette.
'Spike, I think you're making everyone uncomfortable.' Drusilla said between gritted teeth.
Spike inhaled.
'This is my bloody place. They're the ones that interrupted our shower. I'll dress, or not dress, how I like.'
Drusilla sighed. Spike could be such a child! She looked up at Wesley.
'Phoebe is back... but not Angel?'
Wesley said down on the couch opposite Drusilla and Spike. Leo continued to stand.
'Drusilla, I found out something about Angel. He has the chance to become human again. But in order for that to happen, he would have to 'reverse his greatest sin'.'
Spike sat up. Angel could be human again? Bloody hell! He would be all over Drusilla then! Then again, maybe he would go chasing after Buffy again! Spike certainly didn't think the brooding vampire would stay by Phoebe's side.
'Well, that's good, right?' Drusilla asked.
Leo sat down now.
'Dru, the only way we're going to be able to get Angel, is if he is restored to human form.'
Spike suddenly stood up. What the hell did any of this have to do with them?
'Spit it out, Leo! What do you need Dru to do here? Hasn't she been through enough?'
But Leo ignored Spike.
'Drusilla, we consulted the Elders. Angel's greatest sin was when he destroyed your whole family and turned you into a vampire. He decimated an important link in the Haliwell line. When you were kept from your true destiny, that was hundreds of years of good deeds you never got to accomplish.'
Wesley took over.
'Dru, we want to do a spell, sending you back in time to the moment Angelus first turned you. We need for you to stop him.'
Spike's mouth dropped open!
'Get the hell out of here! Go! Get the hell out!'
Drusilla stood up and turned away. Spike pulled her into his arms.
'You don't know what you're asking of her! She had bloody nightmares about that fiend when he was running around here!'
Leo looked at them both sympathetically.
'I know, Dru. I know what we're asking of you seems almost cruel. But this is the only way.'
'Will she have powers?' Spike asked in a demanding voice.
Wesley shook his head. Spike shook his head as well.
'Look, nothing against Angel. We've seen a lot of good times....but I won't put Dru through this. You'll just have to find another way or Angel will have to stay put.'
Wesley's mouth dropped open!
'Spike! I can't believe you're speaking in this manner....after all Angel has done for you!'
But Leo interrupted.
'I want to speak to Dru alone, alright.'
'No!' Spike snapped. 'So just orb off!'
Drusilla let go of Spike. She looked up at him with big, tired eyes.
'I'll be fine. Really.'
Spike reluctantly let go of her and walked off to the kitchen. Wesley followed after him. Leo and Drusilla heard Wesley ask Spike if he was going to finally put on some clothes!
Leo and Drusilla sat down, as Drusilla put her face in her hands.
'Dru, I know what happened.'
Drusilla looked up and over at him.
'What do you mean?'
'I mean, I know that when Angelus turned you, he.....'
Drusilla sniffed.
'Raped me at the same time? I almost think he was trying to show me some mercy, if you can believe it or not. If I had still been human, I don't think I could've bore it.'
Leo said nothing, but reached into his pocket. He handed her a stop watch.
'This has to be pressed against the wound he makes on himself, to get you to drink from.'
Drusilla slowly reached for the watch. It looked quite ordinary.
'Where did you get this?'
'From a magic shop. It'll give you the ability to freeze him...Piper can't be there to help....in order for this to happen, things have to take place.....Dru, what Angelus did, you can keep that from happening again, if you can press this against the wound. Do you understand me?'
Drusilla nodded slowly.
'Can you do this?'
Drusilla nodded again. She was not the same, scared girl who was up against the powerful monster. She could stop Angelus this time.
'What happens if I fail?'
Leo looked down.
'You will stay in that time as a vampire, and relive your vampire life again. Can you do this, Dru?' he repeated.
Drusilla stared at Leo.
'I don't have a choice, do I?' she said. She clutched the watch.
'Leo?'
Leo squeezed her hand.
'Yes, Dru?'
'Spike can't know about what Angelus did....it will make it all the more difficult.'
Leo nodded.
'I won't say anything.'
A now dressed Spike, Drusilla, Wesley and Leo orbed back to the manor. Specifically to the attic.
Piper, who was cooled off now, not only because of Phoebe's return, but, because unbeknownst to Drusilla, Piper, Phoebe, Paige, Willow and Wesley, were very aware of what this whole trip back into time could cost Drusilla, and how traumatizing it had been the first time.
Phoebe walked up to Dru and hugged her.
'Thank you.' she whispered, sniffing. God, she hoped Dru could not only get Angel back, but keep herself safe.
Piper walked up to her as well. She clasped her hands.
'You are our sister. It doesn't matter that you've skipped a few generations. You can do this. You have to tell yourself that you can do this. You're a Haliwell.'
Drusilla nodded, as Piper hugged her. She then let go of her and Paige hugged her without words. But, she didn't have to. Paige had always accepted Dru.
Willow walked up to Drusilla too, and she stepped back.
'You look vaguely familiar.'
'Oh, yeah, I'm a friend of Buffy's....Willow...Willow Rosenberg? I think you may have seen me once or twice.'
Drusilla just nodded and let the red head hug her anyway too. Willow waved at Spike.
'Hey, Spike!'
Spike waved back and could not help but smile just a little. Willow had a way of lightening the mood. But, darkness lay heavy within his heart. This was not fair! It was incredibly cruel to put Drusilla through this again. Spike's biggest fear is that while she may return, Dru might be left insane again.
Drusilla turned to Spike.
'I'll be back. Everything will be fine.' she said, more to herself than to him. Spike put his arms around her and drew her into a hungry, lingering kiss. He didn't completely share her confidence, but he didn't want her to know or feel that. He then reluctantly let go of her.
Drusilla turned and walked up to the Book of Shadows. There was a piece of paper lying over the original spell, just to fit Drusilla. She clutched the watch that Leo had given her.
Wesley walked over to Drusilla's side.
'Drusilla, I want you to memorize the return spell. You can read this one as you go back into time. You must say that spell, as you press the watch to Angelus's wound that he tried to make you drink from. Do you understand?'
Drusilla just nodded, then looked around at everyone. She looked at the return spell for a few moments, then moved her eyes to the departing one. She began to speak.
'The bond which was not to be done, 'Give me the power to see it undone, 'And turn back time to when it was begun....
Drusilla began to disappear. Spike moved forward, as if to pull her out of the spell, but stopped himself and closed his eyes. Willow walked over to him and touched his arm.
LONDON 1880
Drusilla suddenly found herself looking at Darla rearranging her skirts. Drusilla remembered that she and Angelus had had violent sex right in front of her, as she was going mad. Drusilla slowly stood up. Darla looked her way and smiled. She then looked at Angelus, who didn't even bother to pull up his breeches.
'Be quick about it Angelus. We have to wait for her to rise, before we can get out of here. The massacre of a convent will surely bring the law.' Darla said primly, before walking out of the room.
That left Angelus and Drusilla alone.
Drusilla tried to edge away from the fireplace, as if she were trying not to upset a mad dog. Angelus's eyes followed her every move.
'Where do you think you're going, Drusilla darlin'? It's time.'
Drusilla clutched the watch in her hand.
'Time?' she asked, her voice shaking. Her eyes moved from him to the dead bodies on the floor.
'To make you my very own, luv.' Angelus hissed, leaping towards her with vampire speed! Drusilla seemed to forget everything, and began to relive the horror of it, as she tried to kick and scream! Angelus picked her up, then threw her down onto a table! Drusilla tried to keep her wits about her! Somehow, she had to find the energy to let him bite her, and then not drink when he forced her head against his self inflicted wound.
And she had to keep him from raping her too.
Angelus roughly swept aside her hair and bit down into her neck! Drusilla cried out as he sucked and sucked, all the while, spreading her legs wide with his hips. Drusilla felt herself losing consciousness....she could not die....she could not drink....the spell....she had to remember so much.....
Drusilla's eyes widened even more, as Angel tore open a gash on his chest from his already open shirt, with one hand, then reached under her skirts with the other and snatched off her underwear. It was now or never! She had to find the energy to do this or she would relive her vampire life with Angelus and Darla.... Drusilla brought the pocket watch up, just as Angelus forced her head up to drink. Drusilla felt his member trying to find it's way inside her, and found strength from God knows where, to smash the watch against the wound....
Angelus cried out, as Drusilla began to say the return spell.
'A time for everything and to everything it's place. 'Return what has been moved through time and space.....'
An eruption of bright light went through Angelus, as he and Dru disappeared from off of that table.
Meanwhile, back in the Wasteland, the light went through Angel, as he disappeared off of the cliff.
Drusilla found herself back in the attic, along with Angel, and collapsed. Spike and the others ran to her. Phoebe hurried to Angel and kissed him.
EPILOGUE
Angel's humanity was restored, but his relationship with Phoebe did suffer because of it. They decided to be friends, although it was hard for Phoebe. Especially since Angel, left town for Paris, to try and win Buffy away from her husband, even though she was still happily married to Riley, and had a baby girl. What would happen in that triangle, would remain to be seen.
Wesley and Paige didn't survive either. Wesley was just a little too stuffy for Paige's tastes, and they went their separate ways. But, Wesley and Phoebe began a secret affair, behind Paige's back, something that killed Phoebe, because of the deception, and annoyed Piper, because she felt like she was put in the middle for having to help her sister lie to Paige.
Lilah Morgan was never seen again.
Believe it or not, Leo, Piper, Spike and Dru, became quite close, since both couples had magical babies. Spike and Drusilla got married in a small ceremony at the Haliwell house. Spike was thrilled that Angel was nowhere in their lives, although he did feel for Phoebe just a little.
Both couples sent Wyatt and Peyton to the same magic school, where they could learn to control their powers. Spike found himself very much into fatherhood, and even helped his daughter practice her spells.
Dru always smiled at the pride Spike showed in Peyton. Although, the school had recently put on a magic show for the parents, and Drusilla had slapped her head in embarrassment, after Peyton performed a spell and Spike jumped up and yelled, 'that's my bloody little girl!'
But other than things like that, life was good for Drusilla now. She was living a better life human, than she was when she was undead for hundreds of years. And for the longest while, she had not thought the happiness she felt now, would be possible. Drusilla sighed to herself. Now to tell Spike that they were having another baby....

THE END
