Summary: What about water balloons…

"Watch it!" cried James, dodging a snitched sized object that whisked past his hair.  It exploded on the grass.  Green ooze leaked out of plastic rubber.

"Ow!!"  Caught unguarded, a huge melon thing landed on Wormtail's neck.  It turned a nasty mélange of green and pink and he frowned.

"Merlin, what are these things?!"  Sirius yelled, "and who—ouch!!"   Sirius's robes were painted yellow and blue.

"Gross!  It stinks!"  Wormtail wiped his sticky hands on the grass.

"Nice, aren't they?" Lily said, coyly, a grin forming at the corner of her lips.  "Enchanted water balloons and--" she added in a low dangerous voice, "they never miss a target."

"Except for me, of course," James smiled sheepishly.

Lily refrained herself from exploding with laughter but managed to keep her poise.  "That was a decoy.  This, this one we're saving just for you, Potter."  She juggled the balloon from one hand to the other playfully.

"Evans, skip the child play.  You know you want me," James said.

James didn't even see it coming.  It moved liked a ghost.  He reached for his wand but too late.  James pulled off his glasses and wiped the pink stained lens calmly and slid them back on.  His eyes narrowed warningly.

"You know Evans, even if it's you, I'm not afraid to—"

Another balloon hooked him right on his jaw nearly knocking him backwards.  They always say three is a charm.

"Now, Evans, I don't want to hurt you but this is getting—"

She wasn't listening.

James was too quick for her.  His hand shot for his wand.

"Accio Water Balloon!"  James cried.

The whooshing water balloon stopped abruptly, and then was suspended in air.  Lily's eyes were open wide with shock.  A sly smile formed at the corner of James lips. He exchanged a playful look with Sirius, and then at Lily.  With the swish and flick of his wand, the water balloon was reeling back to Lily.

Her hands snapped to in front of her face as a shield.  After a few dull seconds of nothing, she peeked slowly out of her shell, and the saw the balloon wasn't there.  She lowered her hands doubtfully.

The balloon smashed right on her mouth.  She tasted the nasty paint flavor and spat viciously.

"Potter! Honestly, that was sick!"  Lily said.  She cleaned her tongue and teeth with her fingers.  "I'll get you, I swear!"

"Don't swear Evans, it's not becoming for a lady good looking as you.  Plus, I don't make the rules."

"Oh, shut up, James Potter.  Don't you bloody talk to me about rules," Lily spat.

"Can't argue with that one, mate," Sirius said with a snicker.  He patted James on the back.

Remus snorted behind his book.  He, in fact, was not covered by slime at all.

Lily charged towards him.  Her face scrunched up in an angry fury.  Her legs moved powerfully with minds of their own.  The paint stain beside her mouth was still fresh. She didn't bother to wipe the rest of it off.  She froze in front of James.  He could hear her long shallow breathes. He blinked.

Words gurgled out of his mouth.  "What are you—"

She pulled his face into a kiss...and then broke away.

She wiped her wet painted lips and smiled.

"Now, we're even."
