Lucy ran passed the admit desk. "What's up with her?" asked Dave. Abby got up and ran after her.

"Are you okay?" Abby asked the weeping girl whom she now held in her arms. She didn't answer. 'She so small.' Abby thought. "Hey, what's wrong?"

"Nothing." Lucy managed to whisper through sobs. Lucy felt so safe in Abby's arms. It was just like how her mother used to hold her when she cried.

"Are you sure?" Abby asked. Lucy shook her head and started crying more profoundly again. "What is it?"

Lucy looked up at Abby; her face was so comforting, so loving. She had longed for that sincere look for so many years. Lucy explained Abby everything, except the fight. "Promise me you won't tell."

"I promise." Lucy ducked her head into Abby's chest.

"Thank you" She whispered to her new friend.

.

A few minutes later, Abby and Lucy went back to the main area. There were still no patients. "Is there really no one here?" Abby asked.

"There was." Luka replied. "But we sent them away. They didn't need our help." Abby rolled her eyes as she walked over to Susan.

"Hey have you seen Carter?" Abby questioned.

Susan thought for a moment. "No actually. If I see him I'll tell you." Abby nodded her head in appreciation. She walked over to the lounge, got her stuff out of her locker and waited for the clock to hit six.

Lucy began to think about Carter, 'Oh no! What have I done? Now he'll hate me and I'll never graduated med. school.' Lucy reassured herself and went to the room where they had spoken. "Carter." She whispered as she sneaked through the door. She heard a groan. "Carter why are you still laying there?"

"Why aren't you? I mean this is so much fun."

"Are you okay Dr. Carter?"

"Ya I'm fine. I do this all the time." John pulled himself up with the help of the bed. "See I'm great!"

"You don't look great."

"Thanks. Will you help me?" Lucy nodded. "Okay I need to get by everyone without them noticing, the blood all over my clothing."

They thought of a way to get him by and it worked perfectly. Once John got to the lounge, he got his stuff out of his locker and left.

"Bye Carter." "Night Carter."

"Bye." He replied to everyone.

Abby walked with John towards the door and turned to her new friend. "Hey! By the way, what's your name?"

The young girl smiled. "Lucy!"

.

That name! That beautiful name. Belonging to that beautiful girl who he had loved so much. John stood in astonishment. Not moving, not blinking. Why did that happen? Why couldn't it have been him?
