"Well, hey honey! It's so good ta finally hear from ya!" The woman on the other end of the line called out cheerfully in her southern accent. "It's nearly been two weeks since we've heard a peep outta ya. At least yer sisters been keeping me up ta date on everything."

"Hiya, Ma." Randy replied trying to hide the fact he was nervous. "Sorry 'bout taking so long ta reach out I've just been real busy after da move inta my new place. And I just started my new position at work, so I've been pretty useless ta everyone around me. So don't go an think dat I'm just letting you and pa down. If I'm gonna let someone down then, dang it, I'm going all out ta let everyone down!" Randy forced a smirk despite the fact he wasn't talking to his mother face to face, as it made the act of playing up a carefree mood far easier even if eyes weren't on him.

"Oh, baby boy, ya ain't letting none of us down! We're all so proud of how well yer doing these days! We can't wait ta see y'all dis Labor Day! It's been so long since we've had both yer sister, and ya, back home. But I would be lying if I didn't bring up dat yer pa and I having just been dying ta give Sandy's little babies their first real taste of Texas living!" The older squirrel on the other end of the line sighed with delight as she seemed to play out this perfect family get together in her head.

"I'm sure dey will have a blast." Randy laughed awkwardly as he moved from taking in the view from his high-rise balcony and opted for staring at his blank TV set after taking a seat on the oversized couch in the living area. He readjusted himself a few times before he finally told himself he felt more at ease.

"Is everything alright, darlin'?" Donna, Randy's mother, questioned after noticing her son's unusual mood.

"Oh yeah!" The younger squirrel laughed again, but with still the same hint of anxiety as before. "Everything's real good." Randy let a sharp breath out knowing it was now or never. He wasn't about to chicken out like he did during their last phone conversation. "I actually... uh... I've met someone."

Randy's mother let out an excited squeal as she yelled for her husband to come join in on the phone call with their son. The young Texan had to pull his cell phone away from his ear to avoid going deft until his mother calmed down. "Dean! Randy's got himself a new gal!" His mother joyfully clapped on the other end of the line after obviously putting it on speaker phone.

"Damn... Their acting like I ain't never had a date in my life before." He thought a little irritated, but somewhat hopeful that this excitement might help them overcome some of the grief they might have once they found out all the fact surrounding their son's new, and very serious, relationship.

"Way ta go, boy. Glad ya took yer time fer once. I'm betting dis lady was worth da long wait, eh?" His father asked not at all hiding the pride in his voice that he very rarely directed towards his son.

"Um yeah. I mean... we've been on, and off a while, now. Things have been, eh, complicated, but we finally got things figured out. Dat's why we agreed ta move in tagether, and focus on a shared future." Randy gulped as his hand started to become slick with sweat. He was nearly losing his grip on his phone, as his perspiration was increasing the closer, he got to finally admitting his dirty little secret his folks.

"Shared future?!" Donna sang happily. "Am I hearing wedding bells?!" She squealed happily again while getting a grunt of approval from his father.

"Marriage? Oh no!" Randy laughed a bit relieved that he could at least leave them happy knowing this wasn't his intention by the end of their phone conversation. "We only moved in with each other a few months back. I don't wanna jump da gun or nothing."

"Don't keep a good gal waiting, son." His father warned. "Now, what's this lovely little lady's name?" Dean pressed as his wife also giddily awaited their son's answer.

"Uh... we've been through so much tagether, and are really in love with each other. I mean... I feel so lucky ta have someone so amazing in muh life. I ain't never been dis happy before." Randy tried to stress his last words as he knew the truth wasn't far behind. "Please let them hear me!" He said in a silent prayer despite that fact he wasn't sure if he was really a believer or not.

"Dat's great, sweetie, but what's her name?" His mother repeated her husband's question with a little more force as Randy had seemed to have missed it before.

A panicked laugh left Randy despite the fact he tried to make it far more uplifting. "See... uh... dat's da thing. Ahem." The offspring in the conversation coughed while trying to push back an oncoming dizzy spell as he laid his full body weight into the sofa and let his head come to a rest as he now clenched his eyes shut. "I get dat it's a shock, and I mean heck... even I was shocked at first, but I'm so glad everything worked out like it did. I'm finally happy now." Randy words became softer with each word as he was now finding it hard to breath. "We're so happy!" He affirmed obviously holding back losing himself and becoming emotional.

The brief moment of silence Randy had hoped for, to regain his composer, never came as his father came across loudly and annoyed over the phone. "What da hell are ya going on about, Randal? Why can't ya just answer one damn simple question? Are ya on something again? Is dis gal enabling you?"

"I ain't on nothing!" Randy swore after a deep breath. He'd finally found his pride. His purpose. Proton. "I'm totally sober right now! And there ain't no gal neither!"

"No girl?" Donna asked confused.

"Den why da hell have we been talking ta ya the past five minutes? Why ya gotta call us up and lie ta us, boy?!" Dean, his father, demanded to know with a vibrating pitch that could cause one to fall to their knees and flinch as they knew a harsh physical punishment awaited. At least if that person was his young child. Randy knew that sound all too well. Looking back, he only took comfort in his beatings, as a youth, as he knew his sister didn't share the same fate... even if at the time he had hated her for it.

"I ain't lying!" Randy shot back still feeling strength from finally being truly with his lover, who was currently out of the house. "I thought I was in love before, but I was just a kid... so dumb. I mean, I'm still dumb, but he's shown me so much more!" Randy laughed nearly madly, but ending this thought on a humbler note. "We got our problems... who couldn't with me?" He asked fast with a jest before starting up again before his parents could respond. "But after all dis time, an everything... tagether. We're in it fer good." Randy sighed only now noticing he was shaking from terror. "I just wanted ta tell ya, as I ain't going ta be able ta make it ta any family gatherings unless ya let him come with me." Randy went silent as did the other end of the phone line.

The phone line became muffled as the older couple, who seemed not to know how to mute the cell phone, covered it with a hand while they argued and yelled. This took a good minute and Randy waited, despite the fact he wanted to hang up and run off... And maybe he should have after he heard his fathers voice, now not on speaker phone, talking to him.

"Ya made many disgusting jokes in yer life, Randy, but dis by far is da most vile!" His father screamed at him. "Ya need ta find yerself a church and get yer head straight!"

"It ain't no joke pa!" Randy now screamed back, knowing like hell he shouldn't edge things on, but couldn't stop himself at this point. "I love me some thick cock in my mouth!" Randy now laughed finding a demented joy in finally causing his father true pain. "Do ya want ta know where else I love it?" Randy giggled tauntingly. "I love it when he fucks muh ass like da little bitch ya always said I was! And oh how I cum!" Randy continued to laughed despite hearing his mother's gasp and his father's roar.

"I didn't rase two daughters!" Dean barked at his son. "Yer dead ta dis family! From here on out ya never existed! Never contact any of us again!"

"OH, boohoo! My daddy don't love me no more! At least I found a man ta show me da love, and den some, dat I never got from YOU!" Randy screamed at the top of his lungs before he heard the phone click and then go dead. He breathed excessively for a while before throwing his phone across the room. It didn't take much time before his thoughts creep up on him and he started to laugh to try and hold himself back from depression, but the depression kicked right in and then he started crying.

"I ain't a girl... he always said I was, but I ain't... I ain't!" He mumbles to himself recalling many of his father's verbal attacks in his younger years. "Why is it wrong ta be sad? Why is it wrong dat I ain't just like Sandy?! He is so mean..." Now thoughts of the physical assaults flashed through his mind. Randy quickly pushed himself off the couch and ran into the kitchen to make himself a far too strong drink. It was Saturday at 2:28 PM. Proton shouldn't be home for another four hours, so why not just have a little liquor to take the edge off?

Oops.
