My gosh, how long has it been since I wrote something here? Anyways, yeah, I'm not dead! I've been busy...and mostly writing on other sites BUT I am here today for two reasons: One, HSC is one of my favorite video game series ever. I remember playing them years and years ago and I was even more excited for the Steam release so yeah, I wanted to write a fanfic for it for so long. Two, I requested adding some characters here so this is my way of letting you know, you can add characters now! You're welcome.

Now as for this story, it follows the combination of Rapidly Promoted Executive and Ghost Inmate, so you can say I'm taking the Toppat Civil War route and altering it. It'll probably get chaotic so get ready.

It all started with a whisper.

Ellie looked to her right and saw the maker of the sound. A rather plain-looking guy with brown shoes. Once he got her attention, the guy quickly informed her about a way out of there: by doing a boost up. Ellie quickly nodded in confirmation.

The guy smoothly jumped up, hanging by a pipe and opened the hatch in the ceiling, then he disappeared from Ellie's sight.

Looking up still, she waited for him to look back and help her up...But that didn't happen.

To say the redheaded girl was furious would be an understatement. Nothing can piss her off more than betrayal, and god helps whoever makes that mistake.

Ellie started to question if it was fair to expect him to do that. Sure, she doesn't really know him but neither does he. A favor for favor, from a stranger to another. That's a fair trade, right? But then again, they were both prisoners...Not much room for trust for the kind of individuals they are, but isn't there honor among thieves? Even more than diplomats? Surely if that guy didn't wanna rot here, he wouldn't wish the same on another person, much less someone who helped him. Typical human selfishness prevailed once again.

The betrayal that Ellie just underwent wouldn't be the only thing to shock her. After spending what felt like an eternity waiting to be transferred to her cell, the warden's right hand man turned to her and urged her to move, seemingly not noticing that one prisoner is missing. He casually took her to the cell and pushed her in, sarcastically sneering at her to have a good time before the door slid shut and he left.

Ellie really wanted to say something about the escapist but she didn't want to be a snitch. But...that would be a fair trade, right? An eye for an eye. If he didn't help her out by taking her with him, she shouldn't help him out by keep his escape a secret.

The decision left the girl with emotional turmoil. Normally, this decision is cut-and-dry for a criminal. That is, to side with the law, unless you're blackmailed, or you can get something out of it. The first scenario is not the case with Ellie, but the second one is plausible.

A little revenge and potential sentence decrease or release from prison does sound delightful.

But if she was gonna tell on the guy and try to get those, she'd have to be smart, considering who she'd have to speak to. And she would also have a small window to tell on him, otherwise she'll look suspicious.

Actually, giving it some thought now, she just realized: Is The Wall even escapable?

She wouldn't bet on it. She heard some people talk about how no one was able to do it in fifty years, and that plain-looking guy certainly didn't look capable. But then again, Ellie didn't hear the alarm or any sort of indication that they caught onto the fact that there is a ghost inmate escaping.

Maybe she gave him little credit.

Later...

Ellie was in her cell, staring at the ceiling in boredom, still pondering her choice. She didn't have much time left, but she didn't want to worry much. She can still lie and say she didn't catch on until tomorrow. There was no evidence suggesting otherwise, anyways.

Suddenly, the girl's attention turned to some muffled voices just outside her cell door. She got up from her bed with a quizzical look and leaned her head on the door, trying to listen in.

"Have you heard? We finally have the Toppat leader here."

"Really? And it was that easy to grab him?"

"Dunno. But hey, that's another notorious and cunning criminal to add to the list."

"Suppose you're right. What's he like, anyways? The guy?"

"All I know is that he's plain-looking but you shouldn't let that fool you! Guy's here for a reason, y'know. Tried to rob a bank, escaped prison, stole a diamond and worked his way up to become the Toppat leader."

"Huh. I see."

"I mean, would you expect that from a guy called Henry Stickman?"

"Guess not. Anyways, let's go. I'm starving."

"You're always starving."

"Shut up!"

Then Ellie heard laughing becoming more distant until it disappeared.

...

That couldn't possibly be the same guy. Could it?

Ellie also thought that the guy who she helped looked plain. Nothing special, just your average criminal locked up in The Wall. But if he did indeed escape by now and no one noticed, maybe he is something more.

With all this new info, Ellie had to look at her options:

The Toppats? That's a familiar name. She assumed them to be a criminal organization. If the guy who betrayed her really is Henry who is the leader of that clan, then she can't hope to bring them down alone, that is if she can even escape from The Wall. If she can, maybe she can indirectly tip off the warden about the clan's location and sit back and watch her job getting done for her. If not, she has to look back at her original plan.

Doing some investigating tomorrow could be a good start, then maybe, Ellie will decide what to do.

Before you guys come at me, yes, I know it's Henry Stickmin. That guard mispronounced it because why not.

Anyways, that's gonna do it for the first chapter. Boy, did I feel excited thinking of all the potential this setup has. Looks like Ellie is planning a cold dish to serve...Do you think Dmitri is negotionable? I doubt it but we'll see. I don't have a set date for next chapter but I am excited nonetheless. Hope you guys like this. See you next time.
