Going Under
Blood and bruises stained Ivy's pale skin.
She lay on the floor, only half conscious after Frodo's violent abuse.
Before Frodo left, he and Ivy had been deeply in love. Their love was a thing of beauty and light, it illuminated them and those around them.
But ever since Frodo returned from his journey to destroy the One Ring, he had never been the same. The pain inside him; caused by the Ring's crushing grasp, drove him to do cruel and ruthless things to Ivy; it happened every night.
Everyday she told herself that there would be no abuse that night, he had changed, he had turned back into what he once had been.
"Nothing has changed. Everyday he fools me into believing that he has changed back, that he loves me. Every night, it ends like this." Ivy thought, before she slipped into the familiar world of darkness.
Ivy winced as the door creaked open and footsteps echoed through the cold, empty house as Frodo approached. When he entered the room Ivy shrank back from him, but he held out his hand to her.
"Come on love, we're going for a walk tonight" he said, and he would have sounded loving to anyone but Ivy, who could detect the familiar hint of menace in his voice.
She sighed softly and took his hand, knowing that refusing his command would have worse consequences.
Frodo led her down the path in the cold moonlight; they walked until they reached the lake. Ivy recoiled in fear, his intentions to bring her here could not have been loving; they never were.
Frodo pushed her roughly towards the edge of the lake, she resisted, knowing now his true intention was to kill her. Ivy struggled feebly; her body was greatly weakened by the nightly abuse she endured. She gasped as the cold water splashed around her ankles, Frodo pushed her further out into the icy moonlit lake.
Under the dark water he forced her; Ivy struggled with the last of her strength; but she was running out of air. Frodo held her under and she felt her lungs begin to fill with water.
In her fading mind she saw visions of her dead parents and beloved sister, Rosemary.
Now she would join them forever.
Going Under
Evanescence
Now I will tell you what I've done for you
Fifty thousand tears I've cried
Screaming, deceiving and bleeding for you
And you still won't hear me
Don't want your hand this time
I'll save myself
Maybe I'll wake up for once
Not tormented daily defeated by you
Just when I thought I'd reach the bottom
I'm dying again
I'm going under
Drowning in you
I'm falling forever
I've got to break through I'm going under
Blurring and stirring the truth and the lies
So I don't what's real and what's not
Always confusing the thoughts in my head
So I can't trust myself anymore I'm dying again
I'm going under
Drowning in you
I'm falling forever
I've got to break through
So go on and scream
Scream at me I'm so far away I won't be broken again
I've got to breathe I can't keep going under
