When Jack and Ianto meet, their lives are changed forever.

Chapter One

Jack's pacing was starting to get on Tosh's nerves. "Jack, sit down! You'll find someone, I'm sure of it." She noticed two unfamiliar figures coming up the drive. "Look, it seems like some people want to see about renting with you. See? It's not so hopeless after all." She sat next to Jack on the couch, prodding him in the side when there was a knock and he didn't move to answer it. He opened the door, and saw the two people Toshiko had been talking about. One was a woman? Man? Neither? He couldn't tell, only noticing that they were rather attractive. But then he noticed their companion, a gorgeous Welshman. Jack wasn't sure why his heart sped up when he saw the Welshman. When the man spoke, Jack couldn't help being entranced by the smooth accent.

"Hello. You must be Jack Harkness. I'm Ianto Jones. I came to see about renting the flat with you." He shook Jack's hand, feeling a bit of a funny jolt in his chest when he did.

"Yeah, I'm Jack. Er, come in. I'll show you the flat."

It had gone well, and within the next two days, Ianto had moved in and gotten settled. The days passed fairly smoothly, however occasionally they'd come close to blows over small things. Jack had a pretty outgoing personality, but he was very messy. Ianto, on the other hand, was quieter and rather neat. Ianto would sometimes nag Jack to be neater, while Jack would nag Ianto to loosen up. And from time to time Ianto would give Jack a small push in exploring his sexuality. Jack usually resisted. The Welshman hadn't hidden his attraction to Jack, but he never acted upon it. For the most part Jack was comfortable with who he was, although after meeting this man, he kept pushing down the voice, trying to ignore it when it told him he might not be as straight as he liked to think himself to be.

It was a couple weeks after Ianto had moved in with Jack, and the two were dressing up a bit to go over to Tosh's for dinner. Jack had bought himself a new blue suit to go with his pale pink shirt. As he stood in front of his mirror debating whether to wear a tie as well, or not, Ianto entered his room. He stood close behind Jack. His gaze met Jack's in the mirror and held it as he took the tie from Jack and put it on the dresser. "Don't wear a tie." He unbuttoned the top two buttons of Jack's shirt. "Leave the jacket open. Exactly like this. You look stunning, Jack." His mouth went a little dry.

Jack's heart was pounding as Ianto adjusted his outfit. He didn't think he imagined the Welshman's fingers had lingered at his collar. He blushed at his flatmate's compliment. "Thanks Ianto. You look gorgeous too." Turning away, he said "Let's grab the wine and head out. We don't want to be late."

The dinner with Toshiko had gone surprisingly well. Ianto found himself drawn to her, and Jack obviously thought the world of her. They had asked Ianto about his friend Morgan, Tosh was interested in meeting them properly. Ianto promised to take care of that as soon as he could. They talked and laughed about a multitude of topics, and by the time the evening had ended, Ianto promised them to keep in touch. She agreed and said she'd love to talk more with him.

Since Tosh didn't live very far from their flat, they had walked there and were now walking back. Ianto stopped momentarily and gazed at Jack. "You don't have any idea how beautiful you are, do you?"

The older man looked at him slightly confused. "I'm not though. Really."

Looking at Jack, Ianto's breath caught. His heart momentarily overruling his brain, he made what could've been the stupidest decision of his life. He leaned towards Jack, and kissed him.
