It had been about 3 days since Jack had told the crew that Katie was saying on longer. She had been quite surprised to find out they were actually quite pleased to have her stay on longer, then she found out she was better at cooking then everyone else so they were happy to have decent food for once. Ana Maria had become happier as well. The whole crew had noticed it, she no longer snapped at them for the slightest thing, maybe what she did instead was worse but they could ignore it more.

"So Katie, how are ye finding life aboard the Pearl" Katie looked up and raised an eyebrow. He was up to something. She had learnt quickly that when Jack wanted something he would turn on the charm with her, or Ana. He never tried to turn the charm on with the men though. Too disturbing.
"What do you want Jack."
"Captain."
"Fine what do you CAPTAIN" Jack grinned, and his hand flew to his heart.
"I'm upset Kate, what is it that makes you think I'm up...to...something?" As Jack pretended to sob, Katie burst out laughing. Ana Maria had come in behind Jack and was now making faces behind his back mocking him.
"Cap'n what're ye doin'?" Jack jumped and spun around. His eyes shifted from one woman to the other. When he finally spoke he was trying not to sound annoyed...too much?
"So ye was lafin' at 'er was ye." Katie nodded her head. "Jest what was she doin' too make ye laugh so much?" Jack bent down so their faces were only inches apart.
"Erm what was it you wanted Captain" Jack suddenly remembered why he was there in the first place, and turned the charm back on again.
"Katie, would ye be so ever so kind as t' d' th' cookin' again t'night. Its just the crew love ye food so mu..."
"Ok." At the funny look Jack and Ana Maria gave her she quickly added, "It gives me something to do. And it reminds me of...home. Excuse me." Katie ran out of the door and down to the galley to start preparing the food she would be cooking, leaving a very surprised Captain and First Mate.

*** Oh god, why did I have to think about home? As much as I don't want to go back there, I well I do want to go home. I'm so messed up. Ugh. Well not much I can do about it now is there. I've already thought of home, I wonder how everyone is. Farther must be so worried about me. Oh I wish I could tell them I'm fine. Stop them worrying about me. And stop Jack from getting double ransom. ***
Katie was so wrapped up her thoughts that she didn't notice Jack watching her from the doorway with a frown on his face. For a while he just stood there watching her, feeling that he shouldn't interrupt her thoughts, but after a while Jack had too.
"Katie." Katie jumped out of her thoughts and turned to face Jack. "Sorry didn't mean to make ye jump. I jest wanted t' ask. I don't suppose yer any good with a sword?"
"Erm, well I can sort of. I'm not very good, but one on my fathers friends began to teach me...before our father's found out what he was doing and stopped." Jack nodded his head. He then handed Katie effects of an old sword and pistol.
"Ye might need these. Try t' stay outta the way but ye may find ye need t' fight." Katie raised an eyebrow.
"What's going on Jack, why do I need to fight." Jack frowned
"I didn't say?"
"No"
"Oh. We're coming up on a ship. There're getting ready to fight so, we are as well. Now ye can stay down here... which I doubt ye will, or ye can come up on deck and fight. But try to keep outta the way as well. Ok?"
"Erm yeah sure." Katie took the effects of jack and put them around her waist. She was a little uneasy about Jacks odd attitude and mood but tried to ignore it as she followed him up on deck. Shortly after reaching deck she heard him scream FIRE and the ship shudder. Katie nearly lost her balance but regained it just in time to fight off a pirate from the other ship...

To Katie it seemed as though this raid was going on forever. She was getting tired, but she hadn't killed anyone – to her knowledge – yet, which she was very happy about. She had just seriously injured one or two members of the opposite ship. Wandering around, hand still clutching her sword she had an odd feeling in her stomach that something very bad was about to happen, one that if she could get there in time could be hopefully avoided. Katie started to look around for Jack and when she spotted him her queasy feeling grew...
