"Jack, there's more of 'em then there is of us. There's 'bout three different pirate ships all after the same thing, us makin' it four." Jack just rolled his eyes at Gibbs and shouted for the boats to be lowered. Everyone but the cook and cabin boy was to go ashore.

Jack went inside the cove first with everyone else following behind. Once everyone was inside, they noticed a large gathering around one pirate in particular. He seemed to be in charge, so Katie guessed he was the captain of one of the ships she had seen going into the cove. There only seemed to be one ship's crew there, so she started to wonder were the others had gone. Katie, Jack, Gibbs, and Ana Maria had been standing still for about 20 minutes before the pirate noticed them. Jack had ordered everyone else back to the ship, but had asked the two females to stay behind, as well as Gibbs.
"Oy, you there, what d'ye want?" Jack eyed the man coming towards him. He looked old. "We've jest come fer our treasure and shall be out of your . . .er . . .non-existent hair shortly." Jack made as if to move, but he was stopped by the pirate's blade at his chest.
"Ye sure this wise?" Jack's hand made to move towards his sword but got stopped by another pirate, who grabbed both his hands. Jack moved his head and looked at Ana Maria, Gibbs and Katie about to ask why they weren't helping him, or hadn't told him about the man behind him; only then did he notice they all had their mouths gagged and their hands bound behind their backs. Jack looked back around to the man in front of him.
"I think it is. Now now, who is this? She doesn't look like a pirate. Sparrow, ye been takin' innocent girlies with ye t' look fer treasure? Or is she one o' yer strumpets?" Jack snarled at the man, even though he could no longer say anything, as he also had a gag in his mouth. He was struggling a lot, though. Three men had to keep him from lunging at the dirty pirate in front of him. "Aye didn't think so. How much did ye get fer her 'safe' return? Ahh, well ye won't be takin' 'er home. She's coming with me . . ." Jack managed to get his gag out of his mouth, and none of the men tried to put it back in because of their fear of getting bitten.
"Ye leave her alone!" The man laughed.
** What's his name? I know him, I know I do, but what is his name? ** Jack wondered.
"Got a soft spot fer 'er, have ye, Jack?"
Jack spat at the man's feet. "No. She's jest a hostage. What's yer name?"
The dirty man smirked. "Can't remember me, 'ey, Joules?"
** Joules, joules. Oh no, he's bad news. I should have seen this coming! How could I be so stupid? That's Will's job . . .** While Jack got lost in his thoughts, Katie was dragged in front of him.
"Captain Jack Sparrow, say goodbye t' yer hostage."

*** Oh no, this cannot be happening. He said I'd be safe. How could he? I really shouldn't have agreed to this. That man looks worse than Johnson. Urgh, and he were bad enough. I thought Jack was supposed to be immune to having anything bad happening to him that he couldn't find a way out of. Well, can he hurry up! I don't want that to touch me. Oh help . . .I wish I were at home now, even if that meant marrying that sod. ***

Katie's eyes started to swell up with tears. She was scared, more scared than she had been before, when Jack took her. Then she had had a gut feeling saying he wouldn't hurt her, but she knew this man who called himself 'Joules' would hurt her. And bad!
Katie looked over at Jack, who was looking right back at her, his eyes telling her he was sorry and that he would get them out of this mess soon. But she didn't know how fast Jack could act this time. It did take him 10 years to get the Pearl back!
Jack looked at Katie; he was mentally pleading with her, saying he was so sorry, but when he saw the look in her eyes, a big wave of guilt came over him. This . . .was all . . .his . . .fault . . .and he knew it. He broke their eye contact for a second; when he looked back up she was being dragged away, pleading with words that only Jack could see written in her eyes . . .
'Jack, help me.'
