A/N thanks for the reviews!!! Enjoy...
Across Katie's stomach was a skull and cross bone, carved into the flesh by a dagger. The wound was deep, not deep enough to damage anything important but deep enough to scar. The cut was flowing with a steady amount of blood and if Ana and Jack didn't act fast she would bleed to death.
Hurrying across the room to get the bandages and alcohol Jack kept in a cabinet for wounds, Ana grabbed them as Jack applied pressure to the girl's stomach. It took them about an hour to stem the flow, the cut seeping only a little with blood, the bandages wrapped tightly around Katie's stomach.
"Do you think she'll be ok?" Jack looked up at Ana who had concern written across her features.
"I don't know. I don't know what else they did to her, physically and mentally." Ana looked down at the young girl, biting her lip.
"I'll go see if the lad's ok." Before Jack could say another word Ana was out of the door. Jack sighed and set about looking over the rest of Katie.
Jack looked over Katie as gently as he could without waking her. He checked over her legs first, finding a lot of cuts and bruises. He left out her stomach, half knowing what was there, and as he reached her shoulders and collar bone he drew his hand back horrified at what he saw.
Katie had bite marks all over her, scratch marks from her neck to her breasts, well he thought they went to her breasts as he checked underneath but not actually on them. She had bruises all over her face, along with a cut from her ear to her chin.
Stroking her cheek Jack couldn't help but feel responsible for what had happened to her. As he watched her sleep, he jumped when her eyes suddenly sprang open. She tried to wiggle away from him even though she knew deep down no harm would come to her.
"Shh, shh. Its ok. Your safe. No one will hurt you anymore." Tears fell down Katie's cheeks and Jack gently wiped them away.
"Their not going to come back for me are they?" Jack's heart for the first time in his life went out to someone completely. Her voice was raked with fear, and worry, her eyes clearly showing she was frightened.
"No, don't worry they wont be back for you." Jack paused before adding. "We brought the lad with us too." Katie's eyes held surprise.
"Drew?" Jack nodded. The mention of this little boy brought fresh tears to Katie's eyes. Jack went to comfort her, but she pulled away. Jack frowned so she explained.
"I, I know you wont hurt, but, but that still doesn't stop me from thinking that when you come near me that you are." Katie's bottom lip began to wobble and she was clearly on the verge of crying once again. "You don't know what they did to me." Jack closed his eyes, inside his head he was screaming at her to tell him, but he could see she couldn't share just yet. Brushing her hair away from her face, Jack told Katie to get some rest. Watching as she slipped off into a hopefully dreamless sleep Jack got up and walked out of his cabin, locking the door behind him.
Walking around until he came to Gibbs's cabin, he knocked on the door gently before stepping inside. His eyes travelled the room until they fell upon the little lad that they had taken too. He was talking to Ana Maria, eyes shining and a bright smile on his face.
"So what's the damage done t' 'im?" Jack asked Gibbs not wanting to say anything before he had too. Looking back and forth between Jack and the lad before he replied.
"Not much. Two broken legs, sprained wrist, cuts and bruises and anything else are just mentally. Nothing else physical."
"Will he be ok?" Gibbs sighed.
"It'll be a while but aye, he should be fine." Drew and Ana Maria finally noticed Jack was in the room and turned to speak to him.
"Are you really going to keep me here. Even when I'm no use?" Ana looked at Jack eyebrows raised, waiting for his answer to the young boys question, daring him to say no.
"Of course we'll keep ye here. We a'int going t' kick ye out ont' the streets. Savvy." Drew's bright smile returned to his face and he looked up at Ana who smiled back down at him.
"Well I 'av t' go play capt'n now. Er Ana can I talk t' ye... outside please." Ana looked up, a frown playing across her features.
As Ana stepped outside, she closed the door then before Jack got a chance to say anything she talked first.
"Jack before ye say anything, ye better of meant what ye said t' that lad. He help Katie, he helped her after she was tortured and if you just think ye can get..." Jack cut in before she could carry on her babbling.
"Ana will ye jest shut up and let me talk please. I'm goin' t' keep t' what I said. I jest wanted t' know if ye'd look after the lad as I can't and he seems t' of taken a shine t' ye. Also try and find out what he knows about what they did t' Kate. But now I'm goin' t' see if I can get bits from her. Savvy." Ana nodded and without saying anything more she moved back into the cabin, talking in a uncharacteristic bright voice to talk to Drew.
Katie sat up as she heard the key turn in the lock. Her heart started to beat faster even though she knew whom it was outside the door, she still started to panic. It seemed to be her reaction to everything nowadays.
As Jack stepped into his cabin, the first thing he noticed was that Katie was once again awake, and was now sitting up looking wide eyed and very alert. In her eyes still held fear, although not as much as before, he could tell she was still very frightened.
"Ye ok Kate?" Katie just nodded and didn't say a word. "Are ye hungry?" She shook her head still not talking. Jack sighed. "Are ye ok t' tell me what happened t' ye, as your goin' t' have to eventually." Katie looked away from him.
"Why?" Her voice was barley over a whisper and Jack had to strain to hear it.
"Because...because I want t' know. And it'll make ye feel better." Katie bit her lip, looking down and playing with her hands. When she spoke her voice trembled and Jack could tell she was close to tears.
"Ok." Jack moved nearer to her, stopping every time she moved away, waiting until she said it was all right to come closer. Eventually he sat down beside her, studying her face as she began to talk, her voice still trembling.
"Well when I was first brought aboard..."
A/N sorry about the cliffy but I wanted to get this chapter up. In the next chapter (which will be up soon. Promise!) You find out what happened to her. Anyway please review, sorry its once again short (I will write a long chapter one day...I will!) anyway choccie muffins for all reviewers. Suzy xxxCaribbeangirl: I forgot to tell you last time how old Katie is. I'm not actually sure I'm thinking of her being in her early 20's late teens if that's any help. Thanks for the review by the way.
