"You WHAT?" Jack winced as Katie screamed at him. He had just broken the news to her that she would be home in less then a week and her reaction was different to what he had expected. "Why now? They probably think I'm dead anyway."
"Then it would be a nice surprise for them."
"Jack I don't think I could go home again."
"Why not? You've wanted to go home ever since I first took you haven't you? I gave you an adventure that you wanted."
"Of yeah some adventure that was. Take me on another and then I'll go home."
"No. I'm not taking the chance of you getting hurt again. I'm taking you home and that's the end of it." Jack paused for a moment. "Hostages are normally happy to leave and get back to their family's." Jack said coldly, before turning and leaving the cabin, leaving Katie shocked and upset at his newfound attitude.

Ana came up behind Jack, who was stood watching the sun setting. His face was a picture of pain and sorrow, and she could only imagine what was going through his mind at that moment.
"Jack..."
"Don't Ana. She has to go home."
"Why?" Jack didn't answer for a few moments; he took so long Ana was unsure he would answer.
"Because it would be better for her." Ana stifled a sarcastic laugh.
"And you know that how captain? Do you know what's going on in her mind? Do you know what she's going to have to face if you send her back home? Her farther, that old man that wanted to marry her. She has a scar on her stomach how do you think she's going to explain that? You'll get the blame when you're the one who helped get her better. So do you really think it would be better for her to go home and be unhappy or for her to be her and be happy?" Ana stopped, panting for air. Slowly realising what she had said she began to apologise. "I'm sorry Jack... that wasn't meant to..."
"Leave it Ana Maria." With that Jack walked away leaving Ana mentally kicking herself.

Jack walked up to his cabin door, but stopped right outside it. Standing there for a few moments before turning around and going someplace else.
Katie heard him come up to the door, and waited for him to come in. she was surprised when she heard his footsteps leading away from the cabin. Sighing she lent back in the chair she was sat in, her hand moving over the bandage that was over the scar she had.
Katie had been sat in the cabin for hours, in the dark, as she hadn't bothered to light any candles. She was just lost in her thoughts until Jack stumbled into the room.
"Katie?" Jack looked around the cabin but couldn't see her because of the darkness. As he lit a candle, a spark of fear ignited itself inside him when he didn't spot her. Relief washed over him as he saw her staring blankly at him, from his desk.
"What?"
"Are you ok?"
"Well let me think about that... no." Jack was taken back by her rudeness, normally she was well mannered. That might not have been rude for a pirate, but for her it was like cursing every second word.
"And whys that?"
"Why do you think?"
"I don't know that's why I asked." Katie sighed.
"You really want to know?"
"That's why I asked. If I didn't I wouldn't 'av. Savvy."
"Ok you asked for it." Jack opened his mouth to say 'that's right I ASKED' but she started talking before he got a chance to.
"Where do I start Jack? Oh yes that's right when you kidnapped me. Do you remember I wasn't as scared as I should have been? You weren't like what I got told pirates were, you didn't hurt me, rape me or do anything to me. You treated me as a person, a guest. Then when I said I wanted an adventure you put my farther off, saying that he could wait a little bit longer for me to go home. Jack you took me on the adventure I had wanted, even if it did go badly wrong. And when I got kidnapped by those pirates you didn't have to come and get me did you! You had had the ransom twice, so you didn't need me anymore, but you came and you saved me. Now you're trying to make me go back? I don't think I can. Not after all this. You've shown me another life, and I'm actually happy. Why don't you want me here? Even Ana is happy there's another girl on board. Its just you that doesn't want me here anymore." Jack looked down at his hands before bringing his head up, and catching her eye.
"I do want ye here Katie."
"Then why are you making me leave when I don't want to?"
"Because..." Jack paused. He wanted to tell her he was scared of her getting hurt, and of what she does to him whenever he's near her. "I don't want you to get hurt."
"That's not a good reason. If you taught me to fight I wouldn't get hurt. Or at least not badly. And what would it matter to you, if I did get hurt? It would just be the same as one of the others getting hurt."
"No it wouldn't."
"Why?" Jack opened his mouth and shut it again.
"Because it wouldn't ok?"
"No not ok. Why would it be any different from someone like Ana or Gibbs getting hurt?"
"Because I... because I..."
