It's About Time

"So where is Harry again?" Hermione asked, looking up from a book. She and Ron were sitting in the empty Common Room by the fire. Hermione was reading and Ron was building a card castle out of Exploding Snap cards, which he currently was looking up from and looking at his friend instead.
"He has Quidditch tryouts to oversee." Ron replied.
"Why aren't you with the rest of the team?" Hermione inquired, her eyebrows raised.
"Harry let me off because I have loads of homework to do."
"That you still haven't done." Hermione muttered quite audibly.
"I'll get to it." Ron said crossly, going back to his castle.
"Honestly." Hermione said, pursing her lips. Then she went back to her book. Ron looked up from his castle and turned his eyes discreetly to Hermione. He didn't really know when he had started liking Hermione only that he thought she was the most gorgeous person he had ever laid eyes on. As he gazed wistfully at her, the card castle started smoking, and rather suddenly, exploded. Hermione jumped and looked over at Rona little disapprovingly. He shrugged and gave her a grin, his eyes not leaving her face. Hermione looked up into his eyes, and a flush rose to her cheeks. She looked away shyly.
"Moine." Ron said gently.
"Yes?" she asked, not looking up at him. He did not reply. Instead, he walked over to where Hermione was sitting and sat next to her on the couch. She flushed deeper as Ron's hand brushed hers. Why was she so nervous? It was just Ron, her friend. So why was she feeling so shaky and lightheaded?
Ron, surprised by his own daring, took his hand and brought it underneath Hermione's chin. Moving her head up so he could see her face. Hermione submissively looked into his eyes, all the while wondering dimly why she had been so blind to her own feelings. She scooted closer to Ron, and he placed his other arm around her. They both moved closer, their faces only inches apart.
Then, Ron hesitated, as if waiting for some verification from her before he did what he was about to do. Smiling slightly at his uncertainty, Hermione moved closer to him. He took that as confirmation that he could do what he was about to do, and met Hermione's lips with his. Hermione placed her arms around Ron's neck, enjoying the passionate yet short kiss immensely. When both pulled away, they locked gazes, until Hermione moved to rest her head on his chest.
Ron wrapped both his arms around Hermione's body, terrified that he would wake and find this moment to be nothing but a breathtaking dream.
"Mione?" he whispered
"Yeah?" she asked.
"I love you." Was his simple respond.
"I love you too." She breathed. They leaned in for another kiss, just as the portrait hole opened, revealing Harry in his Quidditch robes, with his Firebolt over his shoulder. The couple looked up swiftly. When Ron registered who it was, his ears turned a shocking shade of magenta, while Hermione tried to explain.
"Well-er-uh-um-..."
"All I have to say," Harry said as he moved to the staircase that would take him to his dormitory, "is that it's about time." He grinned at them, and disappeared up the stairs.
