Disclaimer: characters not mine, oh how i wish they were...sigh...
This is based on the film rather than the book. Hence Arwen instead of Glorfindel, no Tom Bombadil (how am i gonna rhyme Bombadil with a word that makes sense given the context?!). Hopefully, film and book fans alike will like it. Like i said in the summary, i wrote it in a French lesson so don't expect Shakespeare! Please review! then i can know whether to spend another french lesson writing "Ode to an Epic: Part 2!
Frodo and Sam set out from the Shire,
If they didn't the penalty would be dire,
The world would be covered in darkness again,
and all because of the weakness of men.
They bumped (literally) into two of their friends, who then went on with them to make amends
For the mistakes of Isildur, son of the King,
Who failed to destroy the evil One Ring.
They got to Bree, to the Prancing Pony,And without Gandalf felt very lonely,
until they met Aragorn, a Ranger of the wild,
Who though seemingly rough was incredibly mild.
He took the Hobbits to Amon Sul,And there they were met by the evil Nazgul,
And when Frodo refused to give up the Ring,
He was stabbed in the shoulder by the Witch King.
They mightn't have made it to Rivendell, and Frodo would have been in a wraith-type hell,
But Arwen came and carried him away,
To Elrond who made sure Frodo was okay.
Elrond held a council with friends of old,From wise elves fair to mortal men bold,
They decided that the Ring must be destroyed
and that other ideas were completely void.
Nine set out, the Fellowship of the Ring, the hobbits, an elf and a future king,
Gandalf and Gimli, son of Gloin,
And Boromir, fruit of Denethor's loin.
They tried to go over Caradhras,but Saruman would not let them pass;
Saruman was a powerful wizard,
who forced them back with a mighty blizzard.
They were forced to go through the mines of Moria,Former kingdom of a dwarven warrior
but orcs came when Pippin knocked a head
down a well, with enough noise to wake the dead.
Frodo was stabbed with a huge steel pole,By a massive, fourteen foot cave troll,
It seemed to kill Frodo and all was ill,
but he had been saved by his coat of mithril.
They were chased by orcs as they did flee, but the orcs were scared off by some new devilry.
It was a Balrog, a demon of old,
Who, though shadow and flame, had a heart that was cold.
The Balrog and Gandalf fought with a passion,
The demon roared in a frightening fashion,
and upon the Bridge of Khazad-Dum
Gandalf and the Balrog fell to their doom.
The Fellowship's minds were totally fraught;Gandalf was dead (or so they thought)
The remaining eight went to Lothlorien
A place of legend, feared by men.
They sought help from Galadriel, the elven queen,
the fairest being ever seen,
She gave them gifts when at last they parted
to help them finish the journey they started.
They rode down the Anduin and reached Amon Henand found the foulest creatures known to men:
Uruk-Hai, made by Saruman the white,
a terrible and frightful sight.
Boromir tried to take the Ring,a treacherous deceitful thing,
but he regained his honour when
he died for the Hobbits in the name of men.
Frodo decided to go it alone,But Sam wouldn't let Frodo go on his own.
They continued the quest into Mordor,
where none of their kind had ventured before.
Gimli despaired, "Merry and Pippin will be dead!"Legolas sighed and bowed his head.
Aragorn said "Stop this morbid talk!
We shall save them! Let's hunt some orc!"
