Snape's Drunken Lament

There are days it isn't easy...
See, I don't like to complain...
But it really makes me queasy...
Watching some of these kids train...

I must pretend to ignore the fact, that many have no brain,
I shall blame that on inbreeding, I think...
And I will try not to snap when they come closer to the brink,
Keeping (them) alive has let (me) sleep barely a wink!

I am the head of Slytherin, and all that it entails,
...In other words, the keeper of the zoo.
Don't blame me for my attitude, until you've seen my lot.
You be on edge with all these #### snakes to!

I mean that in the best way, the students I don't blame,
Its on their parents I would vent my rage.
They are the result of darkness caused by one most will not name...
And when they leave, at least they won't feel shame...
Like I will feel, from letting them go and be claimed...

These students I have guarded, will very soon be parted,
As Voldemort twists them to his trivial whim...
If I only could protect them, after they have left this school...
Instead of pretending to crawl right back to him...
See, some day's it isn't easy...

And I don't like to complain...

but it really makes me queasy...

Watching future Death Eaters train... ...

"What by Salthazar's balls was in that drink?"
