Chapter : 1.
Odd Della Robbia opened his eyes and sat up in bed. Lightning flashed outside. Odd looked over at the closet. It was open. He got out of his bed and walked over to his door. He turned the knob. The door opened. He looked down the hall and started to run.
"GET HIM !"
Odd ran to the door. Two orderlies grabbed him and held him down. "GET A SEDATIVE !" A blonde nurse walked over to them and pulled out a syringe. She filled it with the sedative and stuck the needle in to Odd's shoulder. "Calm down." Odd fell asleep.
Odd sat up in bed. Sweat poured down his head. Lightning flashed outside. He looked over at the door. He looked down at his wrists and ankles. He was strapped down. The door opened and Yolanda Perraudin walked in.
"Odd , It's Yolanda. Do you remember me ? ," she asked.
He stared at her.
"Yolanda ? ," he asked.
"I'm the nurse at your school ," Yolanda replied , "Remember , Odd ?"
"Yes , I remember ," Odd replied , "What am I doing here ?"
"You've had a psychotic break ," she said , "Remember. You we're having trouble coping with William Dunbar's suicide."
"William is. . .dead ? ," he asked.
"Yes ," Yolanda said.
Odd closed his eyes.
"Are Ulrich , Yumi , Aelita and Jeremie here ? ," he asked.
"The ones you call Yumi , Aelita and Jeremie are all delusions of a fantasy world your mind created after witnessing your friend's suicide."
"You're saying I'm insane ?"
". . . .Yes."
Odd laughed sadly.
"Insane."
"It's okay , Odd ," Yolanda stated , "I'm your friend. I'm here to help you."
He laid down on the bed and closed his eyes.
When he opened them Odd was sitting in the lunch room with Aelita , Yumi and Ulrich. He looked around. Where was Jeremie ? Aelita waved her hand in front of his face.
"Earth to Odd ," she said , "Are you alright ? You zoned out a for bit."
"Huh ? ," was his reply.
"You we're telling me a funny story and then you stopped mid-sentence and froze."
"I did ? ," he asked , "What was I saying ?"
"Something about Milly and Tamia."
He thought about it.
"I'm sorry. I seemed to have lost my thought ," Odd stated.
"What ? ," she said , "You were telling us a story about Sissi."
"Sissi ?"
Yumi sighed.
"How do you forget a story you were telling us a second ago ? ," she asked , "I can't believe you , Odd."
He looked over and saw Sissi sitting at the table across from them. She smiled at him and winked. Odd looked back at his friends. They were gone. He was alone in the lunch room. Alone with Sissi. She motioned him over again. Odd got up and walked over to her.
"Where did everybody go ? ," he asked.
"What do you mean ? ," Sissi replied , "We're the only ones in here silly. Are you on drugs , Odd ?"
"No ," he said.
"Are you okay ?"
He put his hand on his forehead. "What are you doing ?"
"Checking to see if I have a fever."
"Huh ?"
"A second ago I was in an asylum and now I'm in school."
"What are you talking about ? You've been in the lunch room this entire time."
"What ?"
"DELLA ROBBIA ! ," a voice shouted.
Odd turned around and a fist hit him in the face. He blacked out.
