But she doesnt know how long she has been missing and that she has missed out on a war between humans and mutants. .It's going to be a dark story. But it is a ROMY---And I would like to tell you more, but then I have to give you something to read for now, haha. Well I hope you enjoy reading this-
"Grant me, indulgent Heaven, that I may live,
To see the miscreants feel the pains they give;
Deal Freedom's sacred treasures free as air,
Till Slave and Despot be but things that were"
-Robert Burns
A chunk from the ceiling fell next to a still form huddled on the floor, not only causing a loud thud that echoed through out the long empty corridor but also to create a wave of dust it displaced when it thudded against the concrete. That wave of dust caused the still form to awaken and begin to stir, choking on the thick, inescapable dust.
Rogue supported herself on her hands as she tried to raise her head higher than the thick cloud of dust. Finally succeeding, she caught her breath and looked around at her surroundings. Complete darkness and stillness surrounded her.
She slowly stood and turned around gradually in a full circle, soaking in all the details. She stopped when she saw the small 9 by 10 room. She caught her breath as she stepped closer squinting, trying to look through a thick, almost indestructible glass. With her hand, she wiped away a sheet of dust on the glass, allowing herself to look through it. And there it was. The room she was imprisoned in for so long.
Her breathing became staggered as fear conquered her. So many painful memories rushed through her head as she continued to stare. The loneliness. The screaming. The pain. The terror. The tears.
Rogue looked away. It was all too much for her. It did not matter that she was now outside of the room. That she was on the other side looking in, the same place countless others stood and observed her.
But being outside of the room was only a small feat in her plans to return to Bayville. The place where she longed to be. To be free. To go back to her friends, her family, her life. How she ached to go back. She wouldn't even mind to be the misfit among misfits again, just as long as she could see the familiar faces she dreamt about. It was the only thing that kept Rogue alive.
Her stubbornness would not allow her to give up. She had spent her nights agonizing over an escape plan. But all her attempts were futile, always ending in more pain being inflicted upon her. But her stubbornness and determination were wearing thin. And then she gave up. She was broken and prepared herself to die in the cold, dark empty room, away from everything and everyone she loved.
But just when Rogue was about to accept defeat, an explosion occurred. It shook the whole place, causing the parts of the ceiling to fall to the ground. Sirens, shattering glass, falling bricks hitting the floor, cries of mercy, and a low rumble of the building falling apart around her, echoed throughout. Chaos was unleashed everywhere. But Rogue blocked it out as she walked to the door in hopes that the electrical force field that contained her in the room was wrecked during in what she assumed was an explosion.
Rogue could not contain her anticipation as walked to the door. She held out her hand expecting to crash into the force field, but what seemed to be an earthquake, split the ground beneath Rogue and threw her through the steel door.
Rogue shook her head clear of all the memories of the room. She was a prisoner to this place for far too long. Anger was now conquering her fear. Rogue unleashed her anger as she swung her fist against the thick glass. She watched as the glass crumbled as her hand made contact with it. Rogue gulped back her tears. She had spent too much time in this place
Rogue turned and began to run down the long steel walled hallway. Her feet lightly touched the concrete ground, afraid to cause further damage to the collapsing building. She noticed that the room she was held captive in was the only room on the whole floor. Rogue was going to sick if she did not leave this hellhole fast enough.
She burst through the door that led to the stairwell. Rogue ran up the stairs. Her legs ached, she panted as she climbed the stairs, her feet bled from running on broken glass. But she did not care. Freedom was so near.
Rogue ran up the numerous staircases until she reached the main level. She cautiously opened the door, ready to await whatever was on the other side. But an eerie silence only greeted her as she opened the door.
Rogue looked around. The walls of the building were crumbled to the ground, shattered remains of windows and light bulbs covered the ground, and the left side of the building was caved in. Rogue continued running to the exit. She was too focused on the exit that she tripped over a body.
Rogue regained her footing and turned around to see what she tripped over. It was a man dressed in black scrubs. Rogue looked closer and recognized the man. He was the man that always sedated her before taking her out of the room. Rogue gritted her teeth and kicked his body with great force, trying to cause him an ounce of pain that he caused her. But it was hopeless, he was already dead.
Rogue then looked down at her feet, the throbbing pain was almost unbearable. She then realized she was about to step out in civilization. To be among people again after being in isolation for so long. It was definitely going to be a rough adjustment, but one she was willing to make.
She looked down at herself. She was barefoot and wearing a ragged black smock. If she went out now, she would surely stand out. This was something Rogue wanted to avoid at all costs. She wanted to lay low, to avoid as much human contact as possible until she gets to Bayville. She undressed the man that laid lifeless at her feet. She put on the black scrub pants, and took off her black smock. As she went to put on the black shirt, she remembered the three inch silver band that wrapped around her right bicep.
This silver band negated all her powers. It was snuggly secured around her arm. Rogue tried to pull or snap the band off but it was useless. The band was composed of a material that was indestructible and it was fastened tightly together with a lock that joined the two sides together as if they were one. Rogue struggled with it but decided to deal with it later, she already spent to much time here.
She quickly put on the shirt, socks and shoes, and grabbed the black bandana that was on his head. She tightly wrapped the bandana around her hand that was bleeding since she punched it through the glass. When she stood up, the pants covered the shoes completely and her feet kept slipping out of the shoes that were too sizes too big for her. But she didn't care. She just needed to get the hell out of there.
She quickly stepped out the door and into the light. Her eyes burned from the sun's stinging rays. She ducked her head as she put her hand over her eyes, waiting to adjust to the sun's brightness. The sun she thought she would never see again. Rogue began to walk slowly with her eyes averted to the ground, taking deep breaths and enjoying the fresh air she thought she would never breathe in again.
Minutes later the sun's brightness did not sting her eyes as badly, she removed her hand from her eyes and looked where up to determine her location. A thick army of trees on all sides surrounded her. She was in the middle of tha forest.
And this was just going to be one of the many obstacles she would have to overcome to return to her home. But she couldn't care less. With each step she took, her heart fluttered with uncontrollable excitement. Excitement that she was alive. She was free. She was heading back to her home.
Well how did you like it? I'm sorry if I didn't paint a whole picture of what happened to Rogue, how she got there, where is she, where are the X- Men, and other fun stuff like that but they will be answered in the coming chapters--like I said I have to give you something to read for, hahah. But yea Remy will be making his appearance very shortly.
Please review and tell me if you liked it, hated it, or with any critiques, comments or analysis-- I hope you enjoyed reading this and sorry for the slow pace but it'll pick up soon enough!
