Here he was, about to do it again. On a mission that would determine the fate of a planet! Obi-Wan just couldn't understand.

Why does he continually search for answers about questions that have no purpose? The pathetic thing almost got him killed shav it! Can't he just leave some things covered? Sometimes you just have to shut some things out and focus on the bigger picture.

He leaned in closer to Qui-Gon to speak quietly with him.

"I sense a loss of focus."

Qui-Gon's eyes fixed on him. "Be mindful, young Obi-Wan," he chastised gently. "Your sensitivity to the Living Force is not your strength." The younger Jedi held his gaze only a moment, then looked away, stung by the criticism.

"What is to become of Jar Jar Binks here?" Qui-Gon said, turning once again towards the Gungan leaders.

Obi-Wan walked a few paces away from the negotiations, still watching the situation for a few moments more. He turned away and sighed. He couldn't even begin to remember how many times this had happened, though he definitely remembered the last time it did... On their previous mission actually; Qui-Gon had found a small, sickly animal. He had nursed it to health as much as he could, sometimes leaving himself a little hungry. He had, in fact, been so involved in the small creature, that he was caught off-guard when the group of bandits they had been monitoring, suddenly attacked them. They defeated the group and were able to take them to the nearest guard station. It was after that they had noticed the creature had been hit by a stray shot. Qui-Gon had brought it back to the Temple but, sadly, it didn't make it. Qui-Gon had been..... Well.... He had blamed himself for it. He had gotten over it, but the incident was one like others.

Obi-Wan felt a small disturbance in the Force. Qui-Gon was using a small mind trick, more like a Force suggestion.

"I just don't know why he always does this." He muttered under his breath. He reached out through the Force, and promptly sighed again. He didn't feel anything different about Qui-Gon, he was just his normal, centered self. Well, almost. Qui-Gon seemed... more... determined. Obi-Wan grimaced. Perfect, Qui-Gon being even more stubborn and less attached to the task at hand.

He looked up and saw that the proceedings were finishing. He reached out again and gave a small smile. Qui-Gon was happy about whatever had happened, which probably meant that the hapless creature was coming along. At least that meant Qui-Gon would not be as distracted, and he would be happier with his new project. He gazed at the Gungan, now being released from the binders and stifled a small thought about how much they might need those, the creature touched everything, frequently breaking it.

Qui-Gon will be working on this one for a while.

He paused on his way back. He felt something. He couldn't place his finger on it, like a murmur of voices predicting... Utter doom... He frowned, they were trying to tell him something, but as soon as it appeared, the feeling vanished. He would have to talk to Qui-Gon about it once this mission was over. Beginning to walk back toward the meeting, he noticed the Gungan again. He had a sinking feeling that he would get to know him better over the end of this mission.
