Chapter 2
"Ow." My head was throbbing like crazy. Slowly I opened my eyes. It didn't seem to make much difference: I was in a completely dark room, lit only by a small torch at the far end, but I could make out metal bars, like in a jail cell, and two dark shapes on the floor to my right and left.
"Fred," the right shape whispered, "are you alright?"
I peered at him. "Wesley? What's going on, where the heck are we?"
"I have no idea, but it can't be good."
"Yeah... nice situations don't usually involve being chained in a dungeon. Who's that?" I said softly, with a nod to the person at my left.
"I'm not sure, but he hasn't moved yet –I think he's dead."
"Okay ladies, enough with the chatting," a sarcastic voice suddenly said. The cell opened, and three people walked into the light of the torch.
"Good heavens," I heard Wesley stammer.
"Not really. And nice to see you too Wesley," the man spoke. He was incredibly handsome and had an amused smile on his face. A woman with blond curls stood next to him. A third woman, who was standing a bit further away, was wearing a long red dress and was hugging a kitten. Both had their game face on, so I figured the man had to be a vampire as well.
"Wait... you know each other?" I said, as Wesley was mumbling something about 'lost souls' or something like that.
"Oh, Wesley didn't tell you about me? Wes, my man, I'm offended," he said with a grin, but the look in his eyes was hard as steel.
"Th-this is Angel. Angelus now, or so I figure. Before a curse gave him his soul back, he was one of the most cruel vampires that ever walked the face of the Earth..." Wesley murmured, but the vampire interrupted him coldly.
"Ah, thanks buddy –that's really too much credit. But I do what I can..." With the slightest wave of his hand, both women stepped forward. The blonde one bent down over Wesley. In the darkness I couldn't see what she was doing, but it sounded like she was whispering something in his ear. Suddenly, Wesley gasped as the blonde woman started dragging him out of the dungeon with remarkable ease.
"Wesley!" I cried out, and tried to get up. The woman in the velvet dress walked right up to me and clacqued her tongue.
"Be good, little girl," she said with a soft smile and pushed me back to the floor. My head hit the floor hard, and lights started dancing in front of my eyes...
"My Angel... She's so pretty. Can I keep her?" the woman said in an almost singing tone. Angelus smiled at her, and then turned to me.
"As for you, sweetheart, I'm afraid I have things to do. But don't worry, Drusilla here will take good care of you..." I heard Angelus say as Drusilla started humming and dancing on the spot.
"And Dru..." Angelus called impatiently, and when Drusilla looked up at him, continued, "save some for me." Then he walked out without another word.
My head still throbbing, I blinked at the terrifying vampire. Slowly, she leaned over me, capturing my eyes in hers, as she slowly swayed two long fingers in front of my face. I knew she was trying to hypnotize me, so I quickly closed my eyes.
She growled angrily and I suddenly felt a sharp pain on my cheek. With a gasp, I opened my eyes. A red fingernail was trailing right above me. With a rapid move of her pale hand, she made another cut in my other cheek and, bringing her finger up to her lips, licked off the blood with obvious delight.
"What are they doing to Wesley," I said, trying to steady my voice.
"Don't fret kitten," she hummed. "He's going to help us..."
"He'll never help you –and neither will I!" I said angrily, "No matter what you do to us."
She gave another frightening growl, showing a flash of pointy white teeth. Impatiently, she moved her fingers over my stomach. Before I even saw her making a move, I felt the seering pain and, looking down, I saw that my blouse was quickly becoming stained by a long red line...
