"It's almost night. Be ready everyone. We'll attack after the sun is set. The coordinates of their bases should already be in your omni-tool."
"Why are we attacking at night?" One of the Cabal asked.
"When we observed this primitive race from orbit, for whatever reason, they will retreat to their bases when it's dusk and almost night."
"Oh. Then that's why are we attacking at night?"
"Yes. Be ready everyone!"
So this is why this primitives race hid when the night came.
They started out with twenty turians, including a few Cabal. They don't use any light source, in fear of the enemy noticing the said light, so they move in the darkness of the night as their cover. He quite remembered what the terrain look like, so he is asked to be their guide trekking through the thick forest.
They started off well, making a joke here and there. No one noticed anything weird happening, until too late. Right now, only he is left. Other nineteen of the group are either dead or missing without anyone noticing. The only reason why he even survived is that only he brings some sort of light source and fire kit, just in case.
The...thing that attacked his team seems to be afraid of fire and light in general. But even then, he can see the white eye that keeps eyeing him from the darkness. His lamp has long since been turned off, probably from the lack of energy since he never charged it. Luckily, the fire kit is still functional. And since he is in a forest, there are twigs, tree branches, and leaves to keep the fire going.
"Hmm? Shit." Even now, a hand made of shadow will try to snuff the fire out sometime. He can't do anything to prevent the hand from reaching the fire other than keeping reigniting the fire when the hand snuffed it out. He sighed softly.
"Spirits, please give me strength to survive this planet..."
