There is a black screen, as music fades in, before words follow, silvery and almost ghostly.

Hardship…

Thomas Sawyer is seen fighting against chains that suspend him from the ceiling, and he yells.

Wilhelmina Harker swarms through a fortress as a majestic cloud of feral bats.

Pain…

M is seen standing directly in front of someone, and he slowly and torturously drives a long thin blade, a stiletto, into their lower side, causing the victim to give a cry that fades into a whimper.

We travel up the body. It is Tom Sawyer, closing his eyes and wincing madly.

Suffering…

Rodney Skinner is set ablaze, and writhes in agony, wailing horrifically as he burns.

Allan Quatermain reels from an attack, dropping a pistol from his hand.

Torture…

Dante is seen slipping on knuckle-dusters, and he lashes out, and we hear the sickening contact… a loud crack.

Tom rolls his head back to stare up at the ceiling, giving a long, extended sigh of anguish and clear pain, screwing his face into an expression of agony. He yells suddenly, and throws his head forward.

Struggle…

Tom swings forward on his chains, and kicks something hard, knocking it back and away with a crash, before we hear a creak and a clatter. His eyes travel upwards… the chains are breaking.

Mina and Dorian Gray are in combat, heated and passionate, yet fierce and determined. Their blades clash, and they are face to face.

M and Quatermain fight, using a variety of different tools, striking and landing blows.

Skinner is fighting something we cannot see, their outlines marked by smoke and steam that wafts around their frames. Someone gives a pained yell.

Loss…

Mina holds a match in her hand, tears fill her eyes, and she lights a candle sorrowfully.

Nemo, and Henry Jekyll stand on the conning tower, releasing a few single flowers into the sea, their actions slowed.

Quatermain lowers a rifle to the candle's side, props it against something bronze and looming.

… Is there any room for hope?

A cacophony of images assaults us, with names that flash simultaneously in silver lettering along the screen.

Tom is hauled from the floor; he tries to fight; he is backhanded across the face.

SHANE WEST

M runs down a corridor, box in one hand, mask in the other, wearing his long cloak.

RICHARD ROXBURGH

Mina darting forward, bearing her fangs.

PETA WILSON

Quatermain is sitting in the snow, and he aims a rifle, sighting along the barrel.

SEAN CONNERY

The screen wanes to black, and letters appear.

… There is always room for hope…

We fade back in to see Tom sitting against the wall of something, clearly uncomfortable and suffering. Someone steps up before him in his cell, standing some seven feet away. We turn to angle beside Tom, and see Dorian Gray, smiling almost kindly down on the American.

In the blink of an eye, Tom is up from the floor, and has surged forward. His chains snap back around one of his ankles, and his leg is torn out from under him with a cry, and he slams down to one knee. He looks up to the just-out-of-reach Dorian, and gasps, pants, eyes filled with pain.

TOM: Why…?

The screen fades before we hear the response. Words fade back in to fill our screen as the music dies away.
