In modern times, pokemon and humans live together in peace and help each other out with the bonds between them forming friends. But what if I told you, there was once a war between the two species? To be more specific, the "Kalos-Galar War" where the human lord AZ and the King Pokemon Calyrex fought each other for the true definitions of "Peace and Freedom"!
Countdown to War: 3 Days
Two guards walked into the beautiful throne inside a part of the well-known Parfum Palace, they bowed to their charming king who was sitting on his dedicated throne.
"Your majesty, the new land discovered under Kalos a few weeks ago is proven to be only inhabited by Pokemon."
The King smiled in joy, and responds, "Very well, if we correctly use the potential of this land, we might be able to solve our current overpopulation problems and for years to come!"
Kalos was densely populated, if this went on, many cases of homelessness will be caused. AZ and his fellow followers sailed through oceans to find free land that was unoccupied by other humans, they also established trade routes through the Unova region and the Sinjoh Region due to the large amounts of sailing, but it seemed like they can stop the hard work as they have found their "treasure".
AZ could not wait to see this new land with his own eyes and told his people that he would travel there the next day. But little did they know that the pokemon weren't very pleased by their arrival.
Glastrier neighed at Calyrex, "There were some sights of an unknown species with pokemon for the past few days, would it be a threat?"
"I foresaw that this day would come. They are humans, a species capable of ruining our glorious kingdom. How dare they step foot on our pure land while controlling other pokemon! The next time they arrive I shall punish them." Calyrex angrily said.
"My king, wouldn't it be childish to assume that the pokemon were controlled? Like pokemon, even if they are the same species, wouldn't there be evil ones and the correct ones?" Spectrier asked wisely.
"I would not risk evil leaking into our safe space."
Although Calyrex commanded a punishment, Spectrier wanted to find out more before making the final judgement.
Countdown to War: 2 Days
After a few hours of sailing, AZ, along with his brother Flare, some sailors and a few guards, has reached the Galar Region. They loved the magnificent Greenlands and the intimidating mountains. But just after they got off their wooden boat, 3 Pokemon revealed themselves. The sailor on the boat was suddenly surrounded by a blue aura.
"Our kind shall not live with humans, I demand you to release all pokemon out of your madness!"
AZ knew that it was some sort of psychic powers as that was not the original voice of the sailor, he asked, "Who are you? Let us all calm and settle things out! I do not want anyone or anything to be harmed!"
"I am Calyrex, the king of Galar. I am currently communicating through this man. I need you to release your pokemon and leave this place at once."
"And why is that?" Flare asked.
"I shall not allow your species' impurities to affect Pokemon from any region in this world. The first shall start in your region."
"I am AZ, the representative of the Kalos region, the king if you will. We come in peace. Is there any way I could change your view?"
Calyrex stopped, it thought about AZ's offer and started remembering horrifying memories from its hidden past of itself. Spectrier noticed that something was wrong with Calyrex, as an act to "bring" it back to the conversation, Spectrier decided it would be the best time for persuading Calyrex to first know about the intruders as it was interested in them, and so it did.
Calyrex thought about the suggestion by Spectrier, and Glastrier also thought this would be a wise action. With doubts, Calyrex agreed to bring only the king to the ancient Crown Shrine while the other two legendary pokemon watched over the remaining humans. As soon as AZ, Calyrex and its current sailor avatar entered the freezing building, Calyrex and the sailor turned around and started to debate a fair treaty.
"Most pokemon live with humans by their own will, and I do not think that there is any problem with that. For example, I have formed bonds with a Floette, although it is not currently here, I am sure it would agree with me."
"What about the ones that are not? I doubt all Pokemon willingly stay with humans."
"...Then our security corps will deal with it. Pokemon abusing or trading is banned as it is inhumane."
"And I refuse to trust your species. How are you so sure your Security Corps can capture all of the evil? Is your Security Corps even trustworthy in the first place?"
AZ thought to himself about the deep yet true questions asked by Calyrex. To both of the questions, he had the same answer-He is not sure about either the Security Corps's power or if it was corrupted. He was speechless.
"King of Kalos, was it? If you do not have a good answer to my questions, then put your thoughts on this instead, either release all pokemon from your region to mine, or I shall travel there and release them myself, in other words... War. You have one day to give me an answer, now take a rest back at your boat. Take my avatar."
AZ and the sailor reunited with Flare and the other people on their ship. He could not sleep but only think about Calyrex's words. His brother saw AZ's stressed face and decided to ask him about the bother.
"What happened up there? Looking at your face, I know something big is happening inside your mind."
"That pokemon, the king of this land, Calyrex... it asked me some questions. Some really wise ones. I am ashamed of myself. His questions made me realise that I am not a good leader. I might not be able to help all pokemon... Calyrex wants us to release all Pokemon from Kalos, and more regions after, one by one, or it'll declare war on us."
"No one is perfect, I bet that wise king isn't either. But staying in Kalos is the choice of the pokemon, it's their freedom! No matter what that Calyrex's wicked definitions of freedom are... we are not following his demands. Not without a good fight."
AZ looked up and towards his brother, he left a smirk on his face before falling his head to the relaxing bed he sat on. It was as if he was saved from a never-ending nightmare and could finally take a break.
"Thank you, brother. I can't appreciate it more."
"Now start sleeping, you're gonna need it."
Once he left AZ's room, a smile of greed as much as the length of the universe appeared on his face. He called on everyone except AZ on the boat to his room for a secret meeting.
"Sir, we have arrived."
"Good, without any other special factors, AZ and Calyrex would declare war on each other. If we play the pieces right, when Kalos and this Galar region have used their resources, we, the Flare Rebellion shall take over both regions at once. I do have to admit, taking Galar was unexpected, but since if we don't they'll attack us, so why not get rid of them before that happens?"
Every crew member was a part of the Flare Rebellion, a rising terrorist group that appeared a few years before the war. No one except the members knew about the true point of the group-for Flare to take over Kalos and rebel against his brother. It seems the sudden introduction of Galar has brought them a chance of success.
Countdown to War: 1 Day
The next morning, AZ was ready. With Flare behind him, AZ got out of the boat and stepped on Galar's grasslands once again, and there Calyrex and the other 2 Legendary Pokemon stood, opposite to them. Right when Calyrex was about to take one of the sailors as an avatar, AZ raised his hand, stopping Calyrex.
"I know what you are going to ask, and I do not have an answer. All I know is that I will, at all costs, protect the freedom of Pokemon in Kalos. They are not yours to care about, they do not belong to your land, and so is not my region's security. If you keep on interfering with my country's peace, it will be war; if you stop, we will leave this land right after this conversation and I promise you we will never come back."
Calyrex froze as if it was struck by the blue aura from its own. No matter how wise it was, it never expected such an answer from a human. It had to make an ethical decision-Is the peace of Galar more important or is the species of Pokemon more?
