After Ansem had been killed, Sora went on his journey to find Riku and King Mickey. Sora returned to the islands to check up on Kairi, but she was no where to be found. "Hey Selphie! Where did Kairi go?" Sora asked one of the fellow islanders. "She said she went to the small cave over there" Selphie pointed to the cave near the small waterfall. "Kairi hasn't left that cave for quite some time now. I'm a bit worried, please make sure she's ok Sora." Selphie asked. "Don't worry, i'll go see her." Sora answered as he started to walk away. He climbed into the cave and followed the long pathway until he reached the mysterious door. "Kairi?? Kairi!" Sora yelled. The door had been opened, and Kairi wasn't in the cave. "Oh no. She couldn't have!" Sora told himself. He walked through the door in search of her and ended up in traverse town.
Sora looked around traverse town. It looked just as it did the last time he had been there. "The doors are opening again. The heartless will probably start showing up any time now. Leon will know what to do." Sora ran for the third district door. The door had been locked again. "Damnit! I'll have to go around." As Sora turned to go up the stairs, there they were. The heartless were swarming everywhere. The towns folk were screaming and running away from the creatures. Sora grabbed for his keyblade and just before he attacked, the heartless were being attacked by something on the rooftops. Sora sighed and looked up at the roof, and there stood the great ninja Yuffie. "Sora! Lets show these guys a lesson." the girl said. Sora smiled and ran into the swarm, swiping his keyblade around every corner. Yuffie jumped down from the roof tops and landed right next to Sora. They fought back to back and destroyed all the heartless in the first district.
"Yuffie, what's going on where's...?" Soras words were cut off by Yuffie. "Hes at the doorto the second district with Aerith. We're going to get all the heartless out of the first district. Sora i'm so glad to see you. It's been so long." Yuffie hugged Sora tightly and she noticed that something was wrong. "Hey little guy, what's the matter?" She asked. "Kairi's gone again." he answered. Yuffie looked at him with a worried look on her face and said, "She came here, in search for you. She was taken away by some type of creature. We tried to fight him off but it didn't work. He looked so skinny and pale, like some sort of a living skeleton. Sora looked at her with a suprised look. "Jack! Why would he be here though, and why would he take Kairi away! Maybe he was trying to save her from the heartless." Sora explained. Yuffie replied "He looked like he was from another world. Maybe you should go check it out Sora. I'll tell Leon and Aerith that you showed up. Tell us whats going on when you come back, we'll hold off the heartless for now."
