The day was dark, like the town's mood. The only noise in the town, was the sound of frantic feet.

A woman runs down the street, wimpering slightly.

"But Mr. Vash, we still don't know where to search. Shouldn't we wait?" Asked Millie

Vash looked at Millie and Myrtle to see if Millie was actually serious.

"Doesn't matter. If I don't look for him, I will never find him." Vash said, staring at the two of them in the bar.

"You make that sound like it's a bad thing" Myrtle added rudely.

Vash ignored her and stood up. "I'm leaving."

Millie opened her mouth in protest, but nothing came out, so they let Vash leave.

something's wrong. I know it's usually quiet, but....

Vash walked soundlessly down the roads, alert.

"Please! Please don't!" Screamed the voice from the alley.

Vash quickly torn his heels into the desert sand below him, as he charged into the alley.

"...Knives?"

Knives turned his head to shine a satanic smile to Vash, as he held a gun pointed in the direction of a quivering girl.

"What will it be like to see her die again?" Knives boomed.

The girls watery face turned towards them.

Rem!

"Why Knives?? Why?" Rem whispered.

"Because you look so much like her!!!" He shot the ground before her.

Vash pulled out his sunglasses and put them on with his middle finger, like he had done so many times in a show down.

"Leave her alone Knives" Vash warned.

Knives turned to Vash and began firing ruthlessly.

The dust from the bullets rose and built so it was unvisible to see the fight, but when it cleared, Knives was gone, and a gun lay infront of Rem.

"Leave me alone!!" She shouted, picking up the gun and firing upon Vash also.

"No!" Vash dodged her bullets, and moved closer.

"STAY AWAY!" she warned, eyes still splashing tears.

Vash stopped. He turned around to see four men gather with guns and big grins.

"Run.." Vash said to Rem, behind him. "Go to the bar and look for Millie."

Rem didn't hesitate, though she didn't know why. She slipped out the back of the alley.

Meanwhile in the bar...

"Didn't Mr. Vash seem a little disturbed to you?" Millie asked.

"Please. He's always disturbed." Myrtle answered, unenthusiastically.

"MILLIE!"

Millie turned to see a young girl at the front of the bar, frantically looking around. Millie got up and walked over to her.

"I am Millie." she said with a smile.

"Oh, I was told by a man in a red jacket, to look for you."

Millie looked surprised at the girl, and offered her a seat at the table her and Myrtle had been sitting at.

"He needs help, Knives went crazy" Rem exclaimed.

Mille and Myrtle both paused.

"HEY! You can't bring him in here! He's bleeding all over the place" The bartender yelled

"But he needs help." Vash said, dropping the man on the floor.

Vash left him there, then walked over to the girls, and sat down next to Myrtle, and across from Millie and Rem.

"Did you..........?" Millie began.

"It wasn't Knives." Vash answered.

Vash stared at Rem. "Rem..."

"What are you talking about?" Myrtle asked.

"How do you know Knives?" Vash asked.

"He found me and raised me after his brother killed my mother" She said quietly.

Vash's unhumored eyes did not change, even though he had been accused of another murder.

"Then your name is not Rem?" Vash wondered, who was she then?

"No, my name is Rin." Rin's resemblence to Rem was so uncanny, except for the fact that her hair was a smidge lighter. "What is yours?"

"My name is Eriks." He lied.

Millie and Myrtle looked at him questioningly.
