Shinji Ikari rolled over in his bed after a dream about kaworu. His bed was
wet with tears and he was humming ode to joy. His dream was about the day
he killed Kaworu and now he was shaking with sobs. So many nights of dreams
like this one. Waking up and feeling so alone.
Another dream.
"Please, don't leave me again" Shinji said looking into Kaworu's beautiful crimson eyes. He loved Kaworu eyes. They lit up when he smiled and laughed when he laughed.
"I would never leave you. I will be with you forever." He said and lied down on the floor looking up at shinji. Shinji sat down next to him and felt his warmth. Sitting up next to Shinji, he looked into his eyes and took his chin in his hands.
"I love you Shinji Ikari. Nothing will ever change that no matter what happens." Then Kaworu leaned closer to Shinji and lightly touched his lips to his. Everything felt so wonderful and Shinji leaned into him more putting all his passion into the kiss.
He pulls away.
"I love you Shinji."
"I love you too Kaworu."
He felt the smile on his face. Kaworu was smiling to. Even with this happiness there was something wrong. He searched his mind for the reality. For something that felt right. This was right. No, its not. Kaworu will leave again like every other time. Shinji's smile fades. He is going to leave. Its not fair. Every day Kaworu is ripped from Shinji's grasp again and again. He started to fade.
"You said you would never leave! I don't want to lose you again!" Shinji cryed out.
"I'm not lost Shinji. Look inside yourself. I will never leave you."
And then he is gone again. Like every other time. Just like it will be next time. Kaworu is gone. He left him with nothing but pain again.
"No! You said you would never leave me!"
shinji screamed into the emptiness sobbing again. Kaworu's words echo in his head."I will be with you forever". But why is his gone? He promised! Nothing made sense anymore. his sobs fill the emptiness. He try to make sense of everything again. Kaworu promised. He promised. Why would he leave after he promised he wouldn't? He is lost again. No, not lost. He said he wasn't lost. But he left so maybe he is lost. It dosn't make sense! Why... Why... Why...
Then it maked sense . He didn't leave. He was still with there. Maybe not physically but he was in shinji's heart and always will be. loving him the same way he did before. Always. Watching over. Watching over like a guardian angel. Shinji's Guardian Angel.
He wakes up the same. Tears soaked Shinji's face and pillow but something is different this time.
Kaworu never left him. Even after death he was still with him. He always was. Shinji was just to wrapped up in sorrow to notice his presence. To firm on beliving he was gone forever that he didn't realise that he was there all along. He is still hear. Shinjih felt his presence now.
Dreams still haunted him and he still missed Kaworu as much as always. But there is something there that wasn't before. He understood now. Kaworu was with him through his tears and he will comfort Shinji when he misses him.
After the tears, instead of loneliness shinji felt him watching over. Watching like a guardian angel. Because he is Shinji's Guardian Angel.
