Shinji woke up in a panic, he looked around for a bit, he was in a hospital room, it was mostly empty, minus a few objects.
Gendo: (opens door) Looks like your finally awake...
Shinji: How did I get here..?
Gendo: We recovered you and the unit. It was pretty easy.
Shinji: I see.
Shinji's friends came into the room, they were pretty excited to seem.
Toji: Hey, is everything alright!?
Kensuke: What was it like in the cockpit??
Asuka: When are we getting our chance to pilot something!?!!
Ryo: How did you fight like that??!
Gendo: alright everyone! Shinji's a bit exhausted, so give him some time alright?
They all nodded in agreement, Shinji got up from the hospital bed and looked at his friends and gendo.
Shinji: Well, what do we do now?
Gendo: Simple we go home. There's nothing to do here today.
Asuka: GO HOME!?!? HE GETS TO DO THE AWESOME STUFF AND WE D-
????: I believe you have been told that the units we have are not ready for combat yet.
The group turned around and saw a young girl with short blue hair and red hair, she had a cast on her arm and a bandage on her arm.
Gendo: I see I haven't introduced you to Rei yet, everyone, this is Rei. Rei, these are the pilots you will be working with.
Rei: Greetings.
The group was a tiny bit surprised by the sudden appearance of the young girl, and then further surprised by the sudden appearance of Misato and a penguin.
Toji: Is that a penguin!?
Misato: Yup! He's our mascot Pen Pen!
Ryo: Alright. I seen enough surprises.
The drive to Gendo's home was short, not too long. When they got there, it was orderly and overall, formal.
Gendo: Well, welcome home.
Shinji: I'll bet... Say, you were a bit colder than usual, or rather more cool headed. Why?
Gendo: Well, in situations like before, you can't act on emotions alone. You need to use your head. But your are still human at the end of the day, and you still have emotions.
Shinji: I see...
