Authors note: I know it's been awhile but I felt the need to finish it. I keep telling myself that I don't care if anyone else is interested in me finishing it and I'm happy to say I almost believe it. I didn't want to change the ending I already written so the story doesn't apply to the show any more. I'm sorry for the typos and that I have recreated Vulcan biology. I should have the story finished by next Tuesday.
Chapter 5 Part 2 This Sure Wasn't A Headache
"Yes it would, so explain. Do you want to be with the Commander"? Doctor Phlox couldn't wait for her answer…the theme music was getting louder…He wanted answers… "No half-truths…just tell me the facts. All of them".
T'pol answered… "Yes"…very softly. She took a cleansing breath before continuing… "Yes, I want to be with him but he has told me he no longer wants to be my… friend".
The theme music stopped… "I don't understand. You told him you wanted to be his mate and he told you that he didn't want to be yours or that he no longer wanted to be your friend?"
She was confused, why did it matter one way on another…"My friend, I never told him I wanted to be his mate. As you know Doctor, Vulcan's mate for life. He needed to… work on understanding our differences better, before I could decide if or when we were ready to be bonded. But every time I think he is starting to understand he proves himself to be overly emotional".
He wondered at the fact that every time she spoke she surprised him more. However, she was finally starting to give him the information he needed in order to help her. And he didn't like what he was hearing. He needed the whole story but was starting to believe that she was the one who needed to understand better… "Let me see if I understand you correctly you never told him you were considering him for your mate … yet…let me guess again …you were intimate with him".
She was almost speechless again. How dare him…"That is…very …personal".
He new this was going to be difficult …but this difficult…"Sub-Commander, I need information"
She lifted her eyebrow in shock. He had no reason to know any of this…"Why would you need to know that. It has nothing to with my…situation".
He took a very deep breath. How could he explain it in away that would get her to cooperate with him? He thought for a while before speaking…"It has everything to do with your situation. You need a mate… You have someone you wish to mate with, someone you are already bonded to. Someone who I know wanted to be with you last week. Now your telling me he no longer wants to be. I need to know what happened and why".
She lifted her eyebrow again. This time in surprise…he seemed to think Commander Tucker wanted to be her mate… maybe he knew more then she had thought… "It was the next logical step if I was going to decide whether or not we would be compatible".
He very rudely interrupted her with…"Is that the only reason".
She understood why he was asking these questions and knew her only logical choice was to receive his help. But how she wanted to tell him to… as Commander Tucker would say… shove his question where the sun doesn't shine… "I assume your referring to Corporal Coal"… He shook is head yes…so she conceded… "It was also because he was starting to show interest in someone else. As for our intimacies…we were…compatible. He was…nice".
Dr. Phlox started laughing before she could continue…"You didn't tell him you thought your intimacies were nice did you"?… At her questioning look he continued… "I happen to know that telling a human male that he is a nice person or worse a nice lover is tantamount to telling him he's an uninteresting and worse a bad lover". When Dr. Phlox saw her confusion at his statement he shrugged his shoulders, he didn't understand it either.
T'pol closed her eyes. She didn't want to watch him laugh at her any longer…"I didn't mean he was a bad lover only… soft. When compared with a Vulcan male".
Phlox started laughing even harder…"So Vulcan males are better lovers".
Oh…human males were complicated. Not to mention overly sensitive…"Alright… he was not violent, Vulcan males are. He… cared about what I was experiencing…about me enjoying myself. I had not been expecting that".
He stopped laughing and smiled softly at her… "So you were compatible".
She finally opened her eyes to look at him…All she said in response was… "Yes".
He stared shaking his head. He reminded her of Porthose wagging his tail… then asked… "But"
"I knew he would respond emotionally…but was not prepared…that …that I…T'Pol stopped talking. She stopped trying to explain and started to stare at Dr. Phlox. Maybe, he could say what she could not.
She felt Dr. Phlox's hand on her shoulder. "You did not expect to become emotional also." After her nod yes he asked another question… "Is it possible that you became emotional because you were beginning your Pon Farr."
She had not considered that…"Possibly"
"Possibly…we don't know how your Pon Farr started but we both know it did. Do we by any chance know how the bond started"?… Dr. Phlox asked.
T'Pol answered by asking…"By we do you mean me" … He nodded yes so she continued…"I was unaware that I initiated a bond but it may have started with the neuro-pressure sessions. However, I do not see how it matters now?"
Dr. Phlox was surprised by what she said…"Not wanting to know how you came to be in this situation does not sound like a Vulcan. Does not sound like you."
She answered…"I know. However, I am tired. I would like to leave… now"…After some thought she added a very impolite… "PLEASE".
Dr. Phlox sighed with frustration…"Well that depends. Are you going to go talk to Trip?"
"What can I possibly say to him?"…T'Pol said while fighting her own sigh.
