This is another one-shot! Set during "Haunted", the time when Suze is lying on her bed after hurting her feet. Jesse muses for a bit to show us that, although he's a rancher from the 1850s, he's still got the same fears as guys and girls from our years.
SHORT!!!
Disclaimer: I don't own Suze or Jesse, or the song clips used.
Songs used:
"Crazy For This Girl" by Evan and Jaron
"Wild One" by Faith Hill
"Never Gonna Be Your Lady" by Faith Hill
Jesse's POV:
Would you look at her
She looks at me
She's got me thinking about her constantly
But she don't know how I feel
And as she carries on without a doubt
I wonder if she'll figure out
I'm crazy for this girl
Nombre de dios...How did my afterlife turn to such hell? Here I am, with the most beautiful girl I've ever seen, and I cannot have her. She is alive, I am dead, it simply cannot be! And yet, already, I've lost myself to the customs of this century by kissing her as I did...
She's a wild one
With an angel's face
She's a woman-child
In a state of grace
I glance at Susannah from my seat near her window to see her head bent, reading through a magazine I brought her. A slip of my tongue brought that blush to her cheeks, and I considered telling her my true feelings. But every time I think of saying it, I hear this voice in my head, a voice that tells me what Susannah would say: I tried to say it politely
I tried to give you a clue
All your gold don't excite me
That old trick just won't do
'Cause I'm never gonna be your lady
I'm not the fool you think I am
I'm never gonna be your lady
And you will never be my man
That's right
So I close my mouth, and try to supress the feelings I feel for Susannah. The good father tells me, every time I slip and speak her name to gently, not to fall, for someday I'll move on.
But I won't move on. I'm still here for Susannah, I know I am. I've been here so long for her. And that makes my afterlife a bit harder.
One day, I'll tell her. Someday, I'll tell her. But not today...
