telepathic conversation

thoughts

"KURT, TIME FOR DINNER!!" Rogue yelled up the stairs. Kurt ignored her. His usually appetite was gone, and he wasn't in the mood for facing the others after what had happened today. He was so embarrassed. How could he simply just 'come down for dinner' like it was another ordinary day? He stared glumly in the mirror, hating the reflection in front of him.
"He's not comin' down," Rogue told Professor X on the way to the dinner table.
"He feels uncomfortable after today's events," Professor replied, using his telepathic abilities to tap into the young mutant's mind.
Back in his room, Kurt just lay on his bed, feeling sorry for himself. Why do things like this always happen to me? He wondered. He had dealt with this kind of thing his whole life, and now after he felt he had finally found a place where everything would be almost like normal, this happens. He wasn't just embarrassed, he was mad.
None of this would have happened if it hadn't been for Kitty. She was the one who had forgotten to charge the image inducer last night. She was the one who had lied and said she had charged it the next morning. So, of course, Kurt believed her. Then, in the middle of math class, shiizziick, the image inducer died. Everyone panicked. "OMIGOSH, what IS IT??!!" "IS THAT KURT!!??" and "OH NO A MONSTER!" could all be heard in the Algebra II classroom.
"I can explain.." Kurt said weakly.
"OMIGOSH IT IS KURT!!" a girl shouted before Kurt ran out of the door. He ran through the halls and received more of the same reactions. He couldn't even collect himself enough to teleport away until he had made it outside. He was gasping for breath when he arrived back at the mansion. Tears were welling up in his eyes as he opened the door and began to flee to his room.
"Kurt?" Ororo's soothing voice called up after him, "What is wrong, Kurt?"
"Nothing. Nothing at all." He bellowed down the stairs sarcastically.
"Why are you home from school?" the women inquired.
"The same reason my image inducer isn't on!"
"Oh no, Kurt, I don't what to say. I'm sorry." Ororo murmured as Kurt ran up the stairs. When Professor got home she explained to him what had happened. He went up to talk to Kurt as soon as he had found out.
"Kurt?" Professor knocked on the blue boy's door.
"I vant to be left alone!" Kurt called out.
"Kurt, we need to talk." Professor said gently.
"Come in if you must." Kurt said, and Professor opened the door quietly.
"Kurt, it will be alright," Professor tried to comfort the young mutant.
"I need some time to think," Kurt replied. Professor nodded and left the room.
Now Kurt propped himself up on his bed, lost in thought. How could he ever go back to school with everyone else? What would happen? Would everyone hate him? Would he ever be accepted again?
