Gifts

Sakura was happy.

She couldn't quite pinpoint why she was happy. She just knew she was. The new dress her father had given her was high quality silk – really, too high quality to wear to training, but she loved the way it felt against her skin and couldn't wait to show it off to Naruto and Sasuke.

And then maybe find the Ino-pig and rub her nose in just how good it looked on her.

Really, she was happy.

oOo

It felt uncomfortable, watching Sakura prance around.

Sasuke couldn't help but be reminded that his father had never given him a gift. At festivals and on his birthdays, he would be given something which had supposedly come from his father, but the man never gave it to him directly. And the gifts were occasionally things he'd only mentioned wanting to Itachi.

So it felt uncomfortable, knowing that Sakura's father loved her more than his had.

oOo

Naruto didn't know who his father was.

It wasn't that much on its own, considering he didn't know who either of his parents were, but today it was bothering him more than usual. Sakura's father had bought her a new dress in a shade of beautiful jade green that matched her eyes, and she'd worn it to training every day that week. She was fairly glowing with happiness over the gift.

Naruto had never had a gift before.

He wondered what his father might have given him.
