Mikey felt left out today, he's used to it by now. He'd rather be left out than to be a tag along. Everyone in his group had developed a relationship, except him. Gus was now seeing Corn Chip Girl, or Chip as she is called now, Gretchen has been with King Bob, or Bob, for nearly three years. T.J. and Spinelli were finally able to admit that they were in love with one another, then there was Vince who was with a different girl everyday of the week.

He shoved his cornflower hair back; it had grown past his ear lobe. His blue eyes skimmed the paper on which he was writing. The poem he was composing was about her, the girl he had had a crush on since fourth grade:

Her honey hair sways,

Her pink lip pucker,

Her melodic voice reaches the Heavens,

And my heart.

He sighed as her read over the poem; he could see her so vividly in his mind's eye that it was as if she were right next to him.

"Like, what's that?" Ashley A. asked, her honey hair and black dress with pink trim swayed in the breeze. The wind lifted the paper from Mikey's grasp and it landed at Ashley's feet.

She leaned down, picked it up and handed it to him. "Do you mind if I read it?" she asked timidly.

"Sure," Mikey replied, slightly nervous, and unsure if she would know it was about her.

Her soft eyes absorbed each line, each word, each letter. "That is truly the sweetest thing I have ever read. If you don't mind can I ask you who it is about?"

Mikey thought the question over for a second, then nodded, "It's about…about…well, you."

Ashley's eyes widened, she sat next to him, her mind racing. She had never thought of Mikey in that way, they had a few classes together and had worked on a lot of school projects together.

She remembered their freshmen year they had worked on a project for English on 'Romeo & Juliet.' 'Would you die for love?' he had asked her. She said she didn't know, but the question haunted her for the next few years.

'I would have to know love before I could say yes or no,' was the answer that she came up with, though she never told Mikey. She looked at him now, his ruffled hair, his thick figure, his blue eyes and a light that seemed to resonate from every inch of his being.

She snapped back to reality to see Mikey staring at her with a look of anticipation straining his features. She leaded over and plated a gentle kiss on his forehead.

"I'll see you later Mikey," she told him as she rose from where she was sitting to join her fellow Ashley's.

A wide grin spread over Mikey's face, even if she were to never talk to him again the sweet sentiment she had done for him had made his life worth living.

A/N: I have had vampire sleeping habits for the past week, and I was up at four in the morning and saw an episode of Recess, when suddenly I felt like writing a fan fiction for it. I don't know why, but I picked this couple to write about first, even though they are the last to find each other. Don't ask 'Why this pairing?' because I honestly don't know, it just came to me. Well, I hope you enjoy. Traci P.S. The Recess characters do not belong to me their © to 'Disney,' I think, it could be someone else, it's just not me.
