Ch. 6

Rogue was silent.

"I'll ask again...why are you defending him? I thought out of everyone you would be angry about it" Bobby said

"He's back now what's the difference? John would be dead if he didn't go with Magneto."

I interrupted their conversation...well...it was about me. "Rogue can you explain or did I miss something?"

"I'll put it this way. Everything at Alkali Lake is now under water...even Jean" Rogue trailed off.

"So if I didn't go with Magneto I would be dead right now..." Sort of a question and statement all in one trying to register what Rogue was telling me.

"Yes" Rogue replied

"Damn Magneto saved my sorry ass twice" Didn't Rogue says something about Jean? "Wait...what about Jean?"

"She died saving all of us from becoming engulfed in water."

-Silence-

"Come on Rogue lets go. I don't need this shit" I said glaring at Bobby.

"I'm not done with you yet" Bobby said as he walked in front of me...he was in my way.

"What the fuck do want from me???" I screamed.

Out of nowhere Logan pushes me up against the wall.

"I thought I smelled something burning" Logan said in his usual gruff voice.

"Ha, ha very funny" I said sarcastically.

While he was holding me up against the wall I looked down at his hands meaning to get off. "Are you done yet?" I wasn't intimidated and besides I knew with Rogue there he wouldn't do shit.

"Logan let him go...trust me" Rogue pleaded.

He turned around to look at her and he finally let me go. He said, "I'll be watching you." I just waved him off.

Rogue and I walked passed Bobby. "This isn't over" Bobby said to my back, not even to my face, so with my back still facing him I gave him the finger and I walked away.

I was silent and she was silent...I was the one to break the silence...

"Sorry about that..." I said staring at the floor.

"Why didn't you just tell them what happened?"

"It wouldn't have made a difference...actions speak louder than words...and to them I'm a traitor"

I touched her shoulder and we stopped walking. I looked into her eyes. "I could have stayed with Magneto and Mystique, but I didn't and that's what should matter....that option was never my intention as you know. Maybe I should leave."

"No one wants you to leave...I certainly don't...you need me and I need you"

Did I hear her correctly? She needs me?

She came closer to me and wrapped her arms around my waist. She looked up at me and said again "I need you John" and then she kissed me. That time Bobby saw us. We instantly broke the kiss.

"Now I know why you were defending him...I can't believe I didn't see it" Bobby shook his head and he wouldn't look at us. He left not allowing Rogue or I time to explain and I don't blame him.

"I'm still confused about everything and I need time. Bobby wants more from me and I can't give it to him, but you...you're different. I don't know what it is but when I find that out you will be the first to know. I'll try to talk to Bobby later but first you need to tell the Professor you're back. He probably knows already but still..."

"Will I make it there alive?" I joked. "It seems like everyone wants to kill me and now Bobby has a good reason!"

"He has a good reason to kill us both"

Pyro was telling me that I was pathetic because I felt guilty about what Bobby saw. Bobby is...was...still is my best friend! Who knew that a girl could clash between fire and ice!
